yea, paul actually drums the first four songs on the white album. I feel like ringo can put in a really awesome fill here in there, like in a day in the life. I'm listening to seven nation army now, and the drumming sort of weighs down the song at times. That song is still awesome though. I don't know, maybe if she had a bassist to work with or something she'd be more listenable. Still a good band though.

Karma for knowing what you're talking about, insted of talking out of your ass like so many other people.

I love that lennon quote, i dont remember how i heard it. I think the beatles are a highly underated group musically. All very talented musicians. It reminds me of a RRFB show where everyone rotated instruments until they got back to their own, and didnt miss a beat.

I agree wholeheartidly; every Beatle could play every instrument, Paul is often described as being "stuck playing bass because one of them had to do it" (not a hate on bass players, I play too!). RRFB has the same kind of talent, you probably saw them do the instrument switch during I Don't Know What You Come To Do, I'm so jealous . . . I've been to like 8 Randolph shows and that's the one song I'm still chasing.
Ringo never brought down The Beatles. The reason Paul played drums here and there was because Ringo QUIT THE BAND during the White Album sessions. Ringo keeps a good beat and can fill fine, which is all their music ever needed. Now, if he would have been with, say, Zeppelin, that would not have worked. That Lennon quote is obviously not serious. Until he started talking about peace, nothing he was quoted on was serious, he just loved pissing on reporters. Anyone who honestly believes Paul was a good drummer back then has never paid attention to music or taken a lesson. I've got an arm in a sling and I can outplay him.
Anyway, back to the Black Keys. What they have going for them musically is that both Dan and Pat can keep up with each other; they will never slow themselves down because one or the other can't handle something. I just don't think that's necessarily true with the White Stripes.

It isnt true for the stripes, but that doesnt mean megs distracting, shes just limiting. Thats not a problem though because they've been fine creating music within their limits. I personally would've rather seen the raconteurs, because i think its better music, but im sure the white stripes show will be fun, and jack will tear it up.

Not to prepetuate the off-topic discussion, but I think Lennon was entirely serious when he said the Ringo was not the best drummer in The Beatles. However, this shouldn't suggest he was replacable. At the end of the day, you couldn't replace Ringo, he had a unique style; Abbey Road shows that he is one of a kind, but not necessarily the most skilled.
On the Raconteurs note, I saw them at Virgin festival, great show, would love to see them added.
Back to the topic . . . did the Black Keys play a tent or a stage on '04?

I love the black keys.
A friend of mine let me listen to Magic Potion. I listened to that album all the time, until I acquired their discography. God damn, Thickfreakness and The Big Come Up FUCKING ROCK! I can't wait to see them this year at Roo.
