Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
hopefully they get back to the 04-05 plan of late night which stage. Superjam last night was way too f'in crowded. Lips - the perfect band for a late night side stage. Set won't go too long, they'll draw a big crowd. The Police>Lips. tasty.
Meh, I don't really care when The Lips play. Their show was fun the first couple times, but it's the same damn thing every time. Until they give up the gimmicks and dig into their back catalogue, they're a worthless act to me. Oh no, I'm gonna get smite for that one.

I too want to see them but really hope they have changed up their act. It is a carefully choreographed set, usually the same for every stop they do for a year or two. So I want to see them but if they haven't changed it up, then I've already seen it and my time will be better spent on a new show.
I'm beginning to think the answer to this question is no. Since the Flaming Lips last played Bonnaroo, they have grown exponentially in popularity. I have to believe that it would be pretty difficult to fit everyone who wants to see the Lips into one of those tents. Primus played a stage late night in 2004, and I think I can fairly say that the Lips are bigger than Primus has ever been at this point. (Nothing against Primus, I love them, but the Lips transcend genres.) Although it is not unheard of for acts to repeat late nights, it seems odd that STS9 and the Lips would both repeat in the same year.
On the other hand, Trey's Superjam last year was in a tent, and that was just fine. I'll be the happiest guy in the world if they do play late night, I'm just not convinced... and I saw them during the day at Lolla last year and it just wasn't the same.
I'm interested in everyone's thoughts on this subject.
I hope to god that they play a late night set. I have jsut been getyting into the Flips and cant imagine them palying anything but a latenight. Also, Primus does more than transend genres, they f^ckin made one.
Lets stop comparing these two equally fantastic yet completely different bands! Although, i love it because Primus and the Flaming Lips are my 2 favorite bands! Thats why i went 700miles to Hedgpeth, they were the headliners along with Peeping Tom...oh it was nice..and they both had night sets of course. How about Flaming Lips with Les sittin in ? how odd would that be
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!

the Lips recently unveiled a somewhat new stage show / prop. It had a huge flying saucer and tons of lasers (so I hear). I believe they did it a few months ago at the Hollywood bowl and have taken it to a few other places. There are some pics below. Sure it looks like they have the same ballons and things but damn this is a fun show. I can stand to see the exact same show once or twice a year if its this much fun!!

Can anyone else see late night playing out like this?
FRIDAY
This Tent - String Cheese Incident That Tent - DJ Shadow > The Roots The Other Tent - STS9
SATURDAY
This Tent - The Flaming Lips (12-2:00) > Girl Talk (2:00 - 3:00) > Sasha and Digweed (3:00 - 5:00) That Tent - Gov't Mule The Other Tent - Galactic/Rumored Hip Hop Extravaganza

^^^I'm mostly on board, but I can't see Girl Talk playing for a mere hour when he usually plays for up to 6 hours. Likewise with Sasha/Digweed, they like to stretch out (as Sasha did last year), and I don't see them scheduled for any less than 3 hours.
And I'm still totally unsold about the Lips playing late night, OR in a tent. I don't think it will happen. If I had to guess, I'd expect to see them closing Which Stage.

You need a more "Indie" band for Friday night, so no. remember Superfly likes to spread the crowd.
I personally believe the Lips will end up Friday late night, with Cheese and STS9.
I have no idea what the other late night on Saturday will be, but i would put money on the Galactic free for all. Not sure what other "Indie" type band will be late night other than the Lips though.

Right. Unless you have Wilco play a late night, which I would love but don't see happening I don't really see an "indie" band for Friday. I know many are anticipating the Mars Volta, so potentially that will be the case, but think about last year... the only indieesque band that played either night was My Morning Jacket.
Also, I just assumed since Girl Talk is only playing an hour at Langerado that this was his standard set on this tour. Maybe they'll put Girl Talk Saturday night after one band, and Sasha and Digweed on Friday night after another.

I don't disagree except that Tortoise has a show the next day in Kansas so they'll probably need to get moving. I have a feeling they'll have one of the sunset sets.

I stand corrected. I apologize.
Hopefully that means we'll get Wilco late night one night and the Lips the other.
Personally I hope we get Lips on Friday, and nothing I like to conflict with Mule on Saturday (not going to happen).
Best case scenario, if there has to be a conflict for me (Flaming Lips on saturday as well), would be for Mule to announce there shows details. Something to the effect of them playing a standard set as there first set, and then the special sets are two and three. I wouldn't mind missing this as much, and then I could still go and catch most of the second set, and all of the third.
I'm going to cry if that is Friday late night. I know where my priorities are, but to miss STS9 AND The Roots would break my heart. Not as much as missing the Cheese's last festival performance would though.
IF the Flips play late night it will almost certainly be on the Which Stage. They've only gotten much bigger since their last Roo appearance, especially on the festival circuit. At Lollapalooza they played the second biggest stage right before Manu Chao, at Austin City Limits they played right before Tom Petty! I think they'll preheadline, but late night versus the Mule would be awesome. Having seen them before, I could watch the first three or four songs and then take advantage and rock the Mule the rest of the night.

I think that this will be pretty close. However, it would be great if we could get Lips on the Which Stage late night one night, and Mule on the which stage the other late night. Both bands seem too big to be in one of the tents. I definitely dont see how the lips could pull off the spaceship in a tent, but you never know. Conflicts galore!

COnsidering this will be SCI's last incident at a fest then Im assuming the super jam will contain some form of SCI but msot likely Nershi and Im sure if some of SCI is on stage for the super jam then Keller wil lbe as well so either way you shoudl get a good taste of SCI if it playso ut this way.

I don't think that's out of the question. Lips on Friday, Mule on Saturday. That also opens up spots for other bands to play in the tents.

I'm pulling for an Interpol late night add.
They add Interpol, and I'm pretty much seeing them over anything. I f#cking love their CDs, and have yet to see them live.
