ok, so this isnt an official conformation or anything but the night before last robert randolph played a show in starkville ms which is like an hour away from me and at the end of the show he said "ill see yall at bonnaroo!". a good friend of mine who was at the show told me this. he has no reason to lie to me, so i know its true.
so i dont know why he would say this if he wasnt gonna be there, but it seems like robert randolph would be part of the inital lineup, i mean hasnt he always been?
But here's what I gather (I'm a gigantic RR fan, btw):
The thread above was started by someone who said that at the end of a Philly show, Robert said he would see everyone at bonnaroo . . . sounds good.
Over on the RR message board there was similar discussion, but another person at the Philly show thought Robert simply thanked everyone for supporting him at bonnaroo.
Then some kid who talked to a roadie or something said the guy was unaware of any plans for bonnaroo (but what the hell do they tell those guys anyway).
Most recently a kid who said he talked to Robert after a show quotes Robert as saying, "Don't worry, we'll be there"
There is a woman on the RR messageboard by the name of Kim, who works for the band and usually confirms or denies rumors, she hasn't spoken on this issue.
I personally talked to Jason after a show back in Nov who smiled and said, "We haven't missed a show yet!"
Recall the whole theory about typing in bands like 'www.bonnaroo.com/sonic-youth' and a page appears? Well, try it for Robert Randolph, or any combination of RR and the Family Band. It doesn't work at all; yet at this point, most previous artists have something up, espically multiple time performers. Why could this be? They are waiting to create his page until he is added.
Your news is all the more conformation for me, he's been at every single bonnaroo, and he is often in a round of additions. I have faith.
sorry, i didnt realize that this had been posted. but if he said the same thing in multiple cities, then to me thats all the proof i need. it is still weird that he wasnt in the initial lineup though. maybe he will be in some other act other than the family band.

Didnt RRFB play last year? If thats the case im gonna reitterate my theory that they were trying to avoid back to back performers in the initial, saving them for the additions.
I saw him in Mobile Monday and dont get me wrong I was a little "out of it" but he did say out of nowhere "How many of you have been to Bonnaroo?! " and of course like all of the crowd cheered. But he was like "yeah thats a mighty fine time". I just though it was odd since it was in like the middle of a jam and I was waiting for the "we'll see you there this year" but it never came.

Also, I think this has been mentioned elsewhere, Ryan Shaw is currently RRFB's opening act, and bonnaroo often does book acts that are touring together.
Maybe I am one of the few who actually went to his show last year instead of Oysterhead. I had a great time. We danced our booties off and met Lewis Black and Robert played a lot of new material. Maybe it's because his performance on the 2003 dvd turned me on to Bonnaroo in the first place, but RRFB was one of my faves from the weekend. I hope to see him again this year.
^^^I chose the tail end of the Death Cab set from the porch area of the beer tent. I forgot about that Friday pre-headliner jam: Oysterhead vs. Death Cab vs. Cat Power vs. Ricky Skaggs vs. Robert Randolph.

Half my friends chose Robert, the other half chose Oysterhead. When both our groups returned to the campsite, the Oysterhead crowd was smiling, said it was a cool show. Those of us who saw RRFB, on the other hand, were grinning ear to ear, exhausted from dancing, and totally blown away. I could barely even talk, I just told them, "you missed it guys, you missed it . . ."
I'm sure Oysterhead was good, and it was a one-off show, so I don't blame anyone who wanted to see them, but RRFB was possibly the best show of that weekend. Hopefully this year they play late night and without such big conflicts!

I know I mentioned this before, but I have tried just about every artist that has been at bonnaroo, including comedians from like 4 years ago, and they all have some kind of a bio page (at the very least their name) . . . with one exception . . . RRFB. I've tried every combination, and nothing has worked. My theory is that they won't make their page until their added. Thoughts?
Also, there's a number of people on the RRFB messageboard who have now heard Robert say he will be there, so I feel pretty good about it.
"Summer touring plans are still being worked out and nothing is 100% confirmed. At this point it would be more likely that it would be a situtaion where Robert and some of the band might sit in with other bands as opposed to a full RRFB set."
Quote form Kim from Red Light Management on the RRFB messageboard. So look for Robert to be sitting in with NMAS for sure.
Robert and the Fam just played with Luther from N Mississippi in Philly. Maybe the leader or leaders of the SuperJam? Warren and Robert leading the jam would be mind numbing!!

Wow, if they are there i hope they dont play anything off their new album. That thouroghly sucked for an rrfb album. First and probably last time i'll listen to it. The only decent song is Jesus is Just Alright, and they've been playing that for a few years.
