O.A.R (the worst f*cking name EVER) seem like their only pupose is to give frat boys and high-schoolers, who really love DMB, a way to try and appear as ultra-hip, cutting-edge music fans. I personaly hate Dave's music but he's living proof that it's all been done before...and MUCH, MUCH better! These guys are a joke!
* as many of you will eventually read, this post evidentally p*ssed someone-off. This person obviously took my above post as an attack on Dave Mathews and his music. It is not. It is an attack on O.A.R., a band who rely on seeming more hip than Dave while recording a MUCH worse version of his music (wich I do hate, granted) in an attempt to seem cutting-edge and "revolutionary". This was/is just my opinion but, some people took it the wrong way and attacked me personally.*

Why do you have to take it personally? I don't like Dave's music but I respect him, so (while he bores me) I don't think that he's ruining the world! O.A.R., however are just a sh*tty band who play nothing but safe, tried and true, formulaic pseudo-pop! Once again, THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION, wich I should be free to express without getting smited! well if you cant go back and read your post and see that it was as negative as you can make it then there is no hope for you. it wasnt an opinion it was an attack. i dont take it personal. i couldnt care less how you feel about any band. not sure how someone expressing their positive thoughts about a band being at roo can bring out so much negativity in people. its not like oar would headline, go see something else. a friggin fest with tool, the police, the white stripes, fountains of wayne, etc.., and people are worried about oar bringing wanna-be ultra hip, cutting edge music fans or oar being too pop. gimme a break.

I'm not worried about O.A.R. or any other band! I was just adding my opinion to an already existing thread! I think that they are a sh*tty band (as do many other people), so yes it was negative but, why do you care so damn much? I simply stated my personal opinion about them. YOU got sarcastic and personal about it, not me! Maybe it's you that there's no hope for since you took this to aplace that it never needed to go!It wasn't meant as a reflection of you or anyone else on this message board....IT WAS JUST MY OPINION! To paraphrase you: "i'm not sure how anyone expressing their honest thoughts about a band can bring-out such negativity in people"! Give ME break!

If you can't see how calling my statements "dumbass rants", and telling me that there's "no hope" for me isn't starting sh*t...then you are truly an irrational, oblivious as*hole. seriously man??? it obvious to any rational person that you post was meant to start nuts. you attacked the band, its fans, and dave. for no reason. dave dosent play with oar. but you know that it will get the fire flared back up in a thread that had been dead. what a joke. say some nuts like that and then go around crying about getting a smite.

I really like OAR and they are one of the bands I was hoping would be there this year. Sure they are not SCI, Mule, Widespread, moe or UM....but Bonnaroo is all about diversity...come on we've got The White Stripes The Roots and Dierks Bently this year there is something for everyone...plus hey if OAR does get added (which they won't) it'll just make your decision a little easier you've got a ton of choices you won't get to see everyone anyway so what difference does it make if there are bands there you don't want to see...if you wanted to see every band that was there it would make for a lot of tough decisions

I hear you man...DMB is one of my top 3 bands...I value your opinion. Dave has a very funny following because some of his biggest fans bitch about him the most. They try doing new stuff and no one likes it (I love evolution). DMB will nver be a jam band and will never be loved by most phish fans and other jam band fans. not really sure how to complete this thought without going on for a page and a half......but the bottom line is everyone will like different things...music, food, colors...it's all a matter of opinion and sometimes our opinion is all we have...though sometimes it doesn't seem to matter
In like 99 or 200 I saw them play at a Sprite tour with The Roots, Talib Kweli, Robert Randolph, and N.E.R.D. They sucked hard. I wouldnt call their fans fratboys though because all of them I saw were under 18. RR came out with them and was tearing it apart and the guy from OAR decides to grab the mic and talk during RR's solso. One of those "Oh yea!! Tats Robert Randolph right there. Give it up!" I giggled because the kid next to me had a homemade shirt on that said OAR Monumental Shows Since 1997.

A lot of people have mentioned the lameness of O.A.R.'s name, and i agree. With a name like Of a Revolution, you'd think they'd have some radical licks and lyrics... but there's nothing revolutionary about them at all.... Where the hell did they get that name anyways??
