yet another one of those adds I would love to get, just because it's something the Coachella fans have been clamoring for all over their message board for the past two years.
i've also enjoyed what songs of theirs I've heard thus far. i'd be totally down if they were added

I would love a Portishead addition! The only problem is that they would have to be a late-night act and this year's late-night is starting to get pretty crowded. Oh well, too many band's to choose from is a problem that I usually don't have the luxury of b*tching about.
did anyone ever hear about the group playing with robert plant called "strange sensation"? i read somewhere that they are actually members of portishead. i recently heard of them playing with someone else also (or maybe just recording?), but cant seem to remember who it was.

Coachella would probably get first crack at them in 08, but who knows. Anybody know of any connection AC/Superfly has to any of the band?
Coachella seems to take first crack as a rule. I hate sloppy seconds. Protis, nonetheless, would qualify as one of those addiditions that would send Roo 07 into orbit...IMO

I wanna say that the Strange Sensation's keyboard player and the drummer is from Portishead. I'm not certain though......I know nothing about Portishead.

portishead with the orchestra like on the live nyc album
That seems like the only way to really pull-it-off, to me. Their music is so sadly orchestral that I can't imagine them playing without cellos. I really hope they get added to a late-night slot this year! That's one of three additions that would blow me away! (TMV & B.O.C.)

I sort of think it's more likely they book Phish than Portishead. The possibility is that remote to me.
What, we can't have both???
In all honesty, I'd probably take Portishead over Phish at this point in time. Who knew they were even a possibility? Roo would turn into some kind of strange dream fest if they got added.

If you like Portishead, you might want to check out Brazilian Girls as well. A little more upbeat, but a similar 'torchsongs from a smoky Parisian cafe' vibe (but with a shot of South American flavor).
