In the most recent Rolling Stone it has The Police, Tool, & The White Stripes as the headliners. Did anyone else see this. If this is true then when would Panic play?

Last year Rolling Stone said Beck was a headliner (and omitted Phil Lesh). I think they aim for the three biggest, hippest names. A lot of Stone readers are not familiar with Panic. unless it's at the Disco.

I would prefer The White Stripes as a headline, but there are a couple reasons it isn't going to be the case. Mostly because they don't usually play a shows longer than 90 minutes or so. Headlines usually fill at least two, if not three hours, which Panic can do. Also, Panic has headlined many years in the past, to downgrade them now would be rude.

Widespread Panic WILL close out the fest. They are going to play for close to 4 hours. I don't think Superfly wants a band like the White Stripes to headline when they usually only put on 90 min sets.

Nothing aganist the White Stripes(I'll be seeing em for sure) but I would be extremely diappointed if they headlined over Panic. Panic is gonna bring it for like 3 or 4 hours while with the White Stripes it'd be more of a wham bam thank you maam over in 90 min.......I want the party to go as long as possible.

I really hope it's not a surprise to anyone that Rolling Stone doesn't know what they are talking about. They haven't been a relevant magazine or news source for at least a couple decades.

the charts in rolling stone magazine are a joke, i almost puked when i saw the most recent issue. not that i care, it just makes me sick to see what they classify as the best music out there right now, i'm gonna throw up again
'05 Panic played 2 SETS, I think one of them was like 4 hours, and they closed out the festival. There's no way Roo's going to invite them back and they not headline. That'd be awesome if they played Thursday and Sunday night!
no offense to WSP, but i'd prefer if they kept it to one night, only because i'm going to be seeing them at a ton of other festivals this year and i'd rather the 'roo lineup was more diverse. plus i too am fond of the thursday night 'up-and-coming band' theme.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
Longer is not necessarily better. I'd much rather have a rocking 90 minute-smash-you-in-the-face set from The White Stripes than some dragged out stoned meandering jams that last four hours brought to me by WSP.

ya there is no way the whitestripes headline sunday. i dont think id return next year if they did.
Is this like when you said last year that you would give away your ticket for free if Oysterhead wasn't late night?
no its a little different. and grab made up for that. but seriously??? the white stripes closing out roo??? there is no way. its wsp on sunday and most people know that. if superfly is that far gone to have the white stripes close it out then i seriously doubt id ever return. fortunatly wsp is headlining sunday and altleast somethings are still right in the world. and again not hating on the stripes. im excited to see them. but comeon. headlining sunday at roo??? thats way out there.

Or how about a rocking 3 hour-smash-you-in-the-face set from WSP? I've seen them do it before. Not saying that they can't have dragged out stoned meandering jams. But they can also do it to you real hard in your eardrum. Anybody remember that late set in '04? Also, with Jimmy Herring directing the jams nowadays they can really rock it hard. But that being said, I wouldn't mind WSP or TWS headlining.

I am certin just like all you that WSP will play sunday night.. buuuuuuut, on their website it does state that they are playing THURSDAY?! that is like the worst spot for WSP to play which is why I think they will close it out.. the last time they closed out the roo they freaken rocked the house. they played a crazy set with so many differnt people coming on stage. how could they go from that to playin on the first day?
I hope they don't play both nights.. leave room for other bands.. don't get me wrong, I'm a Panic fan.. but I like to see diversity

They're a hell of a lot more popular in the grand scheme of things than fucking Widespread Panic. And they're more high energy. Their show would be a perfect one to close out a four day music festival.
