I just won his new CD from the radio. He's putting on a free show here next Thursday night. I may go check it out, so I catch something else at Roo. Anyone know much about him? I know the "New Shoes" tune and that's it.
I caught a free concert in Indy last month on a Sunday night, it was worth the price. His voice is the band's strongest instrument, morping between the likes of David Gray, Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye, or Chris Martin. At the time his voice seemed pretty shot from touring, but he definitely has some talent. Many of the songs were pretty intense/emotional, but I thought they were better at the upbeat full-band songs like New Shoes, Alloway Grove, or even Jenny Don't be Hasty. At least those are the songs I play occasionally since I got a copy of the CD. And looking back at the setlist, they pretty much just ran through the tracks from the CD. I don't think they have much material yet. But overall a good show, and a very promising new artist.

I saw Paolo Nutini's show last night in Toronto and it was pretty good. The last poster is right - his voice did sound a little rough and he basically played his whole album. There are some very good songs on the album though it does lose some steam in the second half and he could be huge if he gets played on the radio - not sure if they play him up here.
He was also impressed with the drinking age being only 19 up here - I think he's 20 years old.
By the way, also saw Uncle Earl on tuesday night at the Horseshoe Tavern and they were alright - nothing special. A prett decent bluegrass band - John Paul Jones produced their new record. I imagine they'll play in the Troo music cafe.
Also going to see Mute Math tonight. I'm trying to get some potential conflicts out of the way for Roo.
