...and it has always been this way. I know some people know this, but seriously a bunch of people expect every headliner to play the full time slot. The ONLY bands who have were the jambands. Neil Young, Dave and Friends (someone check), DMB, Tom Petty, and Radiohead were all less than 3 hours. Now they all have played over 2 hours, but none have hit the three hour mark.
I do not know why everyone is asking if TOOL will fill the three hours, it is getting annoying. I garauntee we will see something between 2-2.5 hours and that is it.
Oh, and also, No one is saying anything about the Police, but alot about TOOL. The Police will not be playing 3 hours either.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
Radiohead played their full slot. They were billed for 2 and 1/2 hours, and they played every minute of it (aside from encore breaks). They were scheduled from 8:30-11 and were on and off almost exactly on time. Semantics, I realize, and not really the point you were making, I'm just saying, sometimes they reduce the timeslot depending on the artist. I expect them to do the same for The Police and Tool.

I dont think anyone expects 3 hours out of either of them, people are wondering whether Tool will play longer then 90 minutes, and i think the reason people arent asking that of The Police is because it seems a lot more likely, atleast to me, that they put on a 2+ hour show.

i think widespread played for 3.5 to 4 hours on saturday night in 2005, i thought dave the same year was close to 3 hours, if not more, i've seen him 21 times, and that show was a little longer than pretty much all the ones that i've been to

I'm really not worried about the length, as long as they play their best and do some killer songs. Besides, anything more than 3 hours can tend to get slow.
Yeah, I think most people are hoping for a 2-3 hour set from The Police and Tool. I believe that's pretty much all they ask for from headliners anyway.
Having a headliner that ends earlier on friday and saturday is a good thing, b/c it gives you ample time to get a break in before the late nights start. Sunday, of course, you want a barn-burner of a headliner to finish the thing off strong. Last year saw this pattern, and I expect the same this year.

^^I agree, it's good for the first two headliners to finish up moderately early so that you can go back to your campsite if needed and get situated for the late-night shows(the best part of the festival in my opinion).
Yes, the person who started the thread. Just seems like a bitchy thread to start. Complaining about people wondering weather Tool will play more then their normal hour and a half set. I guess he/she is correct and we shouldn't speculate what bands are going to do at this years Bonnaroo. Matter of fact, why are we here?

Wow, say one thing wrong here, and get your karma f#cked. I'm not trying to be too bitchy honestly. I just find it odd/annoying that everyone is speculating that about all these bands trying to fill the three hour slot, when the only ones who have ever played that long were the jambands.
If you are new to the board, and do not know, I apologize. but if you had been to any of the past festivals after the first one, you should know that not all headliners play 3 hours.
Anyway, that being said, smite me if you must. I was just trying to stop this nonsense of people speculating that TOOL will play 3 hours, or have a hard time doing so. They will play 2 hours, maybe a little more, and people will be blown away, and more than satisfied.

Well also a reason people are speculating that is that Tool is more then capable of filling 3 hours, even if they never, or only once, before have. Aint nothin wrong with speculation.

No, I totaly understand speculation, but there are some people out there who truly believe that every headliner has to, and does play 3 hours. This is just not true.
That being said, if TOOL did pull a 3 hour show out of nowhere, people would sh#t themselves, me included.
