Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
It seems to me that bonnaroo could round out its sound by booking at least one post-rock band to play a late night set. the lush psychedellic soundscapes would make a welcome addition to the 'roo, imo. some nay-sayers last year said that these bands would be too much of a drag for the mood, but with tool as a headliner, i think it makes perfect sense -- not downer music but empowered music. i'd love to see one of these bands at the 'roo: explosions in the sky, mogwai, godspeed, you! black emperor (or one of their side projects since they're on hiatus), belle orchestre, or even M83. can you imagine?
for some reason I cant stand Sigor Ros, but any of the following would be amazing:
Explosionsin the Sky, Pelican, Red Sparowes, Isis, Mono, Jesu, Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, A Silver Mount Zion, 65daysofstatic, Do Make Say Think
Wouldn't mind getting to finally check Jesu out given they cancelled a show I was supposed to see them play in support of Isis. Bastards...
*Edit* These guys are not post-rock, but Serena Maneesh would be an excellent late night act. They're great live and they have this beautifully mix of psychadelic/noise rock that's very atmospheric. One of the most beautiful moments I've had at a concert was hearing them play "Don't Come Down Here" live. Amazing.
That said, they're doing the Japanese tour with NIN through the end of May, so I doubt they'll be around in time.

You can't stand Sigur Ros, but yet, all those you would like? There's hardly a difference in the music, and if anything...Sigur Ros's is better.

Tortoise is the most important, and we have them, so all others would just be dressing. That's not to say any of the above wouldn't be an excellent add.

Thats simply an opinion, sir. I generally find Sigor Ros to be anti-climatic, and the vocals intolerable.

^for real?
i love sigur ros and would love to see them
people get so bent out of shape over people not liking them. I have enjoyed this band from the beginning and have seen them multiple times live, but i have to say i would not like to see them at a festival. Every show i have been to was in an theatre/auditorium and we were seated. My first show i thought 'this is odd' but shortly into it felt that was perfect. And as far as the post-rock thing goes...i guess i just dont see them being lumped in with the other groups listed above...
just caught explosions on thursday in chapel hill, nc. they were beyond explosive -- jaw-droppingly lovely. there were times that you couldn't even really think about the music it was so "in your face:" cathartic moments alternating with fragile. post-rock done well breaks down the barrier between analyzing and experiencing. i really think it's time bonnaroo acknowledges this the transcendence genre by adding a post-rock band to the line-up.
I vote for Explosions in the Sky. They were a highlight at Langerado for me.

Yes, EITS were stunning at Langerado.
Inkybod, that's pretty spot on, as far as descriptions go. I had heard amazing things about their live show for a long time, but never really paid a whole lot of attention. Fast forward to 2006 and I downloaded everything they've done and fell in love. In the live setting though, like you said, it's truly transcendental. The crashing highs that threaten a meltdown and gloriously heartbreaking lower side of things, would go over splendidly at Roo.
Explosions in the Sky is at the top of my wish list for additions. I couldn't get tickets to their show in Philly yesterday, and they're hardly ever around. I want them so bad it hurts.
Any of those bands would be awesome, especially GSY!BE. Saw them once in NYC and it was an awesome show. Pretty much not gonna happen though since they're on hiatus like inkybod said. Some Mogwai would also be really sweet.
Mogwai would be my #1 of all the above (Catch 'em live if you ever get the chance - brain-mangling stuff) , but I've been listening to some Tortoise this week, and they'll fill some of this need, though they need more VERY LOUD bits.
