I really, really want Mike Patton at Bonnaroo...he plays festivals all over the world and collaborates with tons of different artists from all genres of music. I know this is very unlikely to happen this year, but he would be an awesome addition. C'mon Patton fans, are you out there??
I only caught a few minutes of Peeping Tom at Lolla last summer and it was pretty generic rap show fare. Not bad but nothing spectacular. It certainly didn't compare to Faith No More but I suppose that (as Fishbone said) those days are gone.

I agree that there are other Patton projects that would be more exciting (in large part to their rarity), but Peeping Tom is still awesome. And if they were to be added we would have Rahzel already there, so I don't think it's all that unlikely.

a few minutes is not enough to form a sound opinion...

i don't even understand what a peeping tom show would look like, considering all the contingent musical personalities involved with that project.

Rhazel already there? If you're thinking of The Roots he hasn't toured with them in a long time...
Mike Patton is my favorite vocalist of all time. Dude can really sing. Faith No More and Mr. Bungle are my favorite of his projects. I thought the album he put out with Dillinger Escape Plan was pretty good too.

Patton's work (as well as Rhazell) on Bjork's "Medulla" was amazing. Outside of that, Mr Bungle and 1 FNM record, I don't know much about him......but I'd definitely check him out!

i am a HUGE Mike Patton fan. the Peeping Tom album is one of the best things he has ever done. Faith No More is one of my favorite bands of all time. i also love Mr. Bungle....... i once told a co-worker about being a Mr. Bungle fan and she looked at me as if she just learned something really profound and she said, "OH, you're one of those!" that was the moment she understood that i wasn't just a casual music fan. yes, i am "one of those"

That is certainly true but when you're in a festival environment you're talking opportunity cost. With five other stages sometimes you just move on to something else...
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
I don't know if I'd call Faith No More a Mike Patton project, seeing as he wasn't the original lead singer. For everything else on that list, he was the commander in chief from the get-go.
Well he was the singer on almost all the FNM albums so I'd consider it. They had a bunch of singers before they ever released any material and I think only one other that was on an album. I put FNM at the top though, Angel Dust and King For a Day, Fool for a Lifetime are two of the best albums ever, at least in my opinion. I'd take Mr. Bungle next but aside form Fantomas I haven't listened to a lot of other Patton. His "Adult Themes for Voice" album was a bunch of garbage, just odd for the sake of being odd.

I don't know much about FNM but I know that once he got involved he called alot of the shots. "Project" wasn't intended to imply "founder", but I do see your point. And for the record, Patton was never a member of DEP at all, just liked them and collaborated w/ them.

i'd be lying if i said i was impressed by this. don't get me wrong: i love the album, but this performance strikes me as painfully mediocre.

^ Yeah, I dig Patton....but that was a little boring. IMHO.
I just wanted to show zappaphile an example of what a Peeping Tom performance looks like. On back to back nights I saw PT first in a small club and then on a festival stage outdoors and it was anything but boring.

Seems like very rarely do artists bring the same energy and spirit of their live shows to a television spot. I can only think of a few exceptions. In any case, I think it's reasonable to say that that clip is actually not indicative of their live shows. I mean, you know Patton had to keep himself in check for TV!

If you love FNM but hated Tomahawk, I'm not sure what other Patton stuff you would like. Peeping Tom is fairly accessible, though, so you might look there. But IMO Patton's best is Mr. Bungle's "California" (one of my all time favorite albums, and also kind of accessible) and Fantômas' "Suspended Animation" (crazy experimental metal with kickass CD packaging).

Fair enough.
I love Beth Orton but, after singing her praises and assembling several friends to watch her performance on David Letterman a few years ago, I was more than a little disappointed.

All this talk made me realise that I've only really dug into Faith No More and Mr. Bungle. I just downloaded some other stuff and can't wait to try it out.
