Just wandering if anyone in the know, knows what the process is in deciding which stage each band plays on, at what time, on what day, against who....etc.....????

popularity = bigger stage, and they seem to sometimes theme the tents...three indie artist on one, one after another...a bluegrass-folky- country tent..and a jazz-misc like music tent...
one artist seems to flow into the next, when it comes to genre or music sound!

Also, lesser names play earlier....too most popular play evening-night shows. Each night, headliner play by themselves (all stages besides main stage shut down) After headliner, a few of the tents (one year the second biggest stage)...open up and we get non-stop music all night!
The bonnaroo personnel sit in a room and figure out which are the top 5 most popular bands each day (excluding headliners). They subsequently put 5 all at separate places, all playing at the same time, just to antagonize you.
Just kidding does seem like that sometimes, though -
One thing though - when 2 artists are touring together, and both stopping at 'roo, they'll often schedule them back-to-back at whatever tent/stage they're playing. A couple examples are Frankenreiter/G. Love last year or Jack Johnson/Ben Harper in '03.

Saul Williams & The Mars Volta in '05, for instance.
