Richard Thompson Band is NOT folk. Richard Thompson solo...... maybe folk. Hard to define. Maybe there should be a new category called "Richard Thompson Band".
I wouldn't call Ornette Coleman a singer/songwriter. I'm pretty sure that he doesn't sing, and the term "singer/songwriter" makes me think more of the bob dylan/joni mitchell/bright eyes types.
