Haven't seen a thread for this guy yet, But I saw him play last night and he is a great singer. Anyone who likes country music should not miss this man. He is living legend. Wrote "the Christian Life" with his brother (This song was later covered by The Byrds on their seminal country-rock album "Sweetheart of the Rodeo). Got to meet him after the show and chatted a bit about Bonnaroo. He mentioned he would be playing Sunday in the "second tent" (I guess that would be That Tent)., but that he wanted the main stage. He has a new album recorded, but I haven't heard it yet, but anyone interested in him should definatly check this album out:
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
I was really excited about this when the lineup first came out and subsequently have lowered my degree of excitement upon hearing pretty negative things about the album and the tour from the local Austin press. Austin is pretty friendly to country legends, so needless to say, I was surprised. Might be a perfect Sunday afternoon set though if there are no conflicts.
