[glow=red,2,300]I feel like I'm the only person on the board who is thrilled that the FLips are (probably) going up against Mule. Let it be said that I have nothing against them, and will do everything in my power to catch some of their set. I'm just thrilled that the crowd for the FLips will be reduced greatly[/glow]
Actually i totally feel the same way. When I saw the Lips at Vegoose and in LA for the terribel New tears Eve show this year in both cases the crowd was a little thinner than expected...and so there was a little more room.... It was awesome.
My inclination when first reading this thread was to respnd to the peopel debating which show to go to with "are you crazy!? Are you going to miss the Flips at midnight at Bonnaroo?" But then i realized it would be better not to convince people to see the lips show...not that my dumb comments would have any influence anyway...

^^^No, I also feel that way (although I dig Mule and hope to catch some of their unforgettable show), but I'm doubtful that their attendance will drop all that much. Judging by Inforoo, the Lips is just about the most popular/must-see non-headliner this year. I expect there will be a lot of huge Mule and Sasha/Digweed fans who abandon them to catch the Lips. But I hope I'm wrong. Good point, though, illyb. More people, more love. That'll be the positive spin I'll adopt when I get there and see half of Bonnaroo waiting for Wayne to walk over them in the bubble.
Ok Awsome! I saw That my Zaireka party was mentioned earlyer, So yes it will be held after the flaming lips set Hopefully we can all meet at the general store outside centeroo and go/walk from there! Please pm me if you plan on attending I need a general count of whos bringing what. Even if you have nothing to offer still show up for the experience.
P.S. It would be so cool if the lips could help us. you can ask Kliph on the flaming lips board mabey he can help this happen!

There's a post in there somewhere with someone asking Kliph if they'd attend a Zaireeka party. I don't think he gives an extremely clear answer.
Buuuuuut. It will also be Kliphs birthday either that evening or the next day, so it should be a Zaireeka/Kliphs B-Day party. We'd have a much better chance of them attending. I mean, who misses their own birthday party.
I think it's best to play it by ear. If you know Kliph, you know he's a complete music nut, and might want to check out bands instead of hanging out with a bunch of strangers. Nonetheless, we should plan it out and inform him of it.
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!

i just made the suggestion on the flips board that if no one is playing after them they could have the zaireeka party there. i don't know how plausible that is, but it was worth a shot.
Well I found out one other person know as "the Spark" on the lips board asked before I did so basicly he already asked for me this was the responce
quote: Originally posted by TheSpark: Kliph, if we held a Zaireeka party at Bonnaroo after your guys show, would you or any of the other band members come?
reply: I would try to. I haven't heard Zaireeka properly in a few years. I don't know what our schedule's like, though, so I can't promise anything.
then on a latter date he posted this All right guys and girls, good news!!! I went to some of The Lips shows over the past weeks, and have dug up some very intriguing and exciting info!! Firstly, the Lips will be playing Saturday night at midnight at Bonnaroo and will be playing an extended set (2 hours I believe)!! Also, I have talked with each of the band members in turn, and it is a possibility, that in celebration of the ten year anniversary of Zaireeka, The Flaming Lips, and most definitely Stardeath, will be joining us for the Zaireeka party!! I spoke with Wayne and Steven, and they said they would be free after one o'clock, so we the best time to have the actual party would probably be around 2-3 Saturday afternoon (that seems to be their window). Kliph and Steven seemed especially excited about the idea (as did Wayne's nephew Dennis). I have a means by which to get ahold of Steven and Dennis, and of course Kliph is always available on the message board (Thank You, sir!!) so we must decide when and where we will be having this party so I can pass this information on to the right people!! Now please keep in mind that this only a possibility, and you can never know what may come up with the band, but they still seemed highly interested. We need to get organized about all this to make it happen.
my prayers were answered, woot. i definitely wanna hit up that Zaireeka party, my friend told me about that album in ninth grade and i have been wanting to hear it ever since

Sounds like some of us Inforooers gotta get in touch with some folks over at the FLips board and make this a big event.
I think Dennis (Waynes Nephew) was the one from the Waiting For Superman video. Could be another nephew though. I'm psyched. Ill miss bands I want to see just for a chance to hang out with Steven and Kliph.

I have seen Mule three times, and the lips 3 times too... I am not missing one second of the flaming lips, and im going to be leaving the police somewhat early. I dont want to miss sasha/digweed either, but i think they will be starting relatively late anyways.
I have Zaireeka, and its pretty cool... Id love to hear it in sync, and in a nice soundsystem though...
the lips should have all the mini tents play Zaireeka at once, so all of centeroo is playing it... haha!
hell yeah, I was worried for so long about them playing after tool, because I want a good spot this year.

On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio." -Hunter S. Thompson
good news for me. who ever the flaming lips were playing agianst, i was worried was going to be a big conflict. but i dont mind missing gmule and sasha to see lips at midnight. easy choice for me.

I'm not so sure about that. I mean, the crowd will likely be slightly smaller than it would be were they up totally alone, but when The Lips were up against Gov't Mule at Wakarusa, it was obvious who got their crowd thinned. I arrived at Gov't Mule just as it was beginning, and was immediately able to go as far up as my non-VIP admission would let me. It should never be that easy to get up to the barricade for a headliner, so I was kind of confused, which lasted until I looked over and saw the crowd for the Lips

Different nephew. Dennis is the guitarist/singer of Star Death.

I think major props (if that's still a "cool" word) need to go to these roosters who are organizing the Zaireeka party, especially with the possible appearance by the Lips themselves. Muchas karmas!

Thanks for the clarification. I'll give some karma when my privaledges come back. The one in the Waiting for Superman video is just too damn cute talking about his "acting experience" in Fearless Freaks.

Zaireeka party in any form is a very good idea to me. I've got a copy that's only been used once, so let me know if there's any development and I'll put it on the list of things to bring.

Whoa... what if we tried to do a Super Zaireeka Party? I'm talking 2 or 3 of each disc going, with 8-12 total simultaneous sound sources. Extra difficult to execute, but ask yourself: when is the next time you will be spending the weekend with dozens of other Lips fans? Sounds like there are enough interested people to bring multiple copies of the album, and multiple boomboxes. Worst case scenario, it doesn't work and we just do it with one copy. Who's interested in trying to pull this off?!

that is already the plan. go over to the message board on the flaming lips web site for more info.
