Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Alright, I know this place is getting a little crowded, but I think this is an interesting idea for a thread. If nothing else, it's not a new "XYZ Band ROCKS!" Thread...not that we shouldn't have those, but maybe they could be consolidated.
ANYWAY, back on topic. I was wondering what everyone's predictions for the best set(s) of the weekend are. Ideally you'll give a vote along with some reasoning behind it, which will make things more interesting.
My votes go to String Cheese Incident and Wilco.
String Cheese gets it because it's their last Bonnaroo together and I know they're going to pull out all the stops to go out with a bang. Also, as I understand it, they have a pretty cool light show so hopefully it'll all come together spectacularly for us.
Wilco doesn't have as concrete a reason, but I feel pretty strongly about it. I think they really are the perfect Bonnaroo band musically. They're not completely any one genre and they're always shifting and pushing forward musically, which, to me, is what Bonnaroo is all about. With that and their standardly amazing live show as well as the probably extended set length they'll get I expect very big things from Mr. Tweedy and Co. If nothing else I know Nels will bust a sweet solo or two.
SCI is why I am goin to bonnaroo (well not the only reason but once I saw them on the orignal list it was solidified) because they will rock! One of their last shows together and at a very large festival. I am thinking that may be the best set for me.
I honestly think Gogol Bordello will be one everyone talks about especially if they are late night. But i think Tool and the White Stripes could be up there as well. Just alot potential this year.
SCI for the reasons mentioned. Mule, especially if it's a late night set. Also I hope the Police. Since this will be an fairly early show they will have had time to get the groove back but not so much time to get bored and/or begin fighting amongst themselves. Also Rod Y Gab should be great as they should be on a small stage where you can really see the guitar work.
Of course there are always surprise sets that blow you away. That's what makes B-roo.

I think Manu Chao will be the show everyone will be talking about, but after that I could also see The Decemberists, Wolfmother, Old Crow Medicine Show, Dr. Dog, and Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals putting on some stellar sets.

After seeing Gogol Bordello's performance at Coachella, I think all us roo addicts will jump on their bandwagon. It was high energy non-stop and it was fresh, breathtaking..... felt like they were doing something new....although they weren't..it was just punk rock with tribal drums...but it looked so intense, and the bands energy rubs off on the crowd....
They even send a kick drum out in the audience while multiple band members stand on it, still playing that and other instruments... unbelievable. Remiinds me of an intense and talented peelander Z or other performances like that from roo!!!!!
I Hope Wilco brings it like the stated thread above. I also look forward to the roots. I believe with them playing roo and vegoose before..they are lookin perhaps to bring something new to the table...special guest...etc... i definitly love their new album and look forward to their show.....surprises or not!
I think the Kings of Leon on Main stage have something to bring. I don't love them, but I don't hate them. They are my one roo act, I've stopped listening too, because i just want to hear his voice in that field...and judge and enjoy it then...as little pre judgment or comparisons as possible.
The lips, Govt Mule, SCI, Galactic, and Ween all get honorable mention for one of kind killer roo sets. (Thank god for tapers)
Tool, because they're Tool. Anyone who has seen them live knows what I mean.
and if your in the right mindset during the performance of Lateralus you'll probably be talking to Jesus, Ben Franklin, and bozo the clown about the possible economic outcomes of the US and EU pact.
Gogol Bordello WILL surprise a lot of people. They play a ton of instruments on stage that you don't usually hear, and they have amazing energy. I'm looking forward to seeing Ziggy as well...

I really think that Damien Rice's set will be legendary. The guy is so spontaneous with his music. He never seems to play a song the same way twice. I've been told by people who were at his set in '04 that it was one of the most amazing experiences they've ever had the privilege to witness. I'd say, for those of you smart enough to catch his set, be prepared to have your mind blown, your face melted off, to cry and wet yourself all at the same time....it's gonna be epic!
I'm going to go with SuperJam being the best without question, and just a guess as to who you might see, with Ornette Coleman playing Sunday I'd say count him in, ?uestLove on drums, and maybe Robert Randolph if he guests with North Mississippi Allstars that day. That's just my guess of some of the performers.
Gov't Mule will be one for the ages. I also think Wilco will kick it up a notch as well, espicially if they are booked the 3:30ish slot on the main stage, I'd say count on them topping the White Stripes.
Is Ornette Coleman playing on Sunday? And is it pretty much guaranteed ?uestlove is gonna be on drums for the Superjam, since he was last time they were there?
If ?uestlove's on the kit, there's no missing it for me.
I saw The National open up for the Arcade Fire last night and thought they were very good. I have listened to their stuff before, but live they took it to another level. I highly recommend checking them out.

don't sleep on sasha and digweed! sasha's set last year was something of epic proportions, and it can only get better with digweed being there this year. it was a powerful moment when i turned around last year to see the sun rising and sasha was still spinning; bonnaroo is a wonderful place to catch live electronic music.

It's good to see all the cheese love. They're going to blow the stage up...it'll be the biggest crowd they'll play in front of all summer, so they've definately got something special planned. obviously my vote goes to the queso

not because they're a bigger band and might have been around a little longer than most of the other bands, i'd have to say tool. they know how to please a crowd. also i have high expectations for the flamings lips. if u've ever seen some of their live performances, they put on a good show and make everything a comfortable setting.
Yeah I could see Cheese's set bieng epic! I mean they are breaking up right. So whose to say this won't be the last time you'll ever get a chance to see SCI at Bonnaroo.

"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Hunter S. Thompson
I saw Gov't Mule twice at the Wanee Music Festival, and if its going to be like it was at Wanee, then you guys are going to be in for a treat. Mule kicked ass.
Of all the tent sets, I think that Black Angels will be the most talked about show, just a surprise to all who don't know them. Of the big stages, Tool will of coure be talked about, the set will be fantastic (no way it can't be), but not as much as White Stripes. Their first NA show in years, and they will probably play some new stuff, I just think it's gonna be the Run-away show this year.

String Cheese all the way....for all the above reasons, mostly that they are breaking up soon. Tool is awesome live, at least was in 96' and 97'. I'm looking forward to my first crazy Flips show too.
The FLips put on a really entertaining set at Lolla last year. It was one of the few sets that I thought was just way too short. (MMJ was another. BTW, I'd like to see them return with the giant dancing puppets!)
