Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Tool has never played bonnaroo, though. There is a vibe and an aura flowing through that place. You can't help but have it over take you. I've seen it happen to countless bands, and I don't think Tool will be an exception.
I get them 1 week from tonight.
Something very wierd takes place once you step foot on that farm. Everything that you've ever known or ever thought about is suddenly looked at at a different angle. Life as you know it seems to stand still for those 4 days and we create basically a universe within a universe that has it's own time zone. You may arrive at Bonnaroo with a perfectly planned out strategy but I gaurantee you that atleast half of those plans will change instantly and you will find yourself without a care in the world because of it. This "vibe" stays true for the bands as well. Let's hope that Tool gets enough time to hang around before they play to realize that there no longer in there universe anymore there in Bonnaroo.

I'm not worried about the comments Carey made. I think that we'll still see a 2 hour plus stellar set that will completely melt our faces off. It's going to be amazing! Just wait!
wtf ??? ??? ??? I have no idea what he is talking about. Someone please enlighten me.
basically he is saying that they will tone it down and just play the hits. meaning not much experimentation or long jams. which is the opposite of the vibe of bonnaroo. i hope that is just bullshit. i was hoping they would do something different for bonnaroo.
First off, if they did play "just the hits", what is wrong with that show? Im curious about what songs everybody is defining as "the straight forward/hits", that you didnt expect them to play before.
Tool rarely get experimental, and they do not jam. Jamming is not Tool, im not going to debate the merits of why, but they dont need to.
I have said all along, that I would not be surprised if they played 90 minutes, 120 minutes would be stellar, anything more then that is a stretch (but would make me the happiest person in the world). Can any of you honestly say you have ever been disappointed by a Tool show? The only disappointment in relation to Roo will be self manifested due to unrealistic expectations.
Go into this expecting them to play the exact same set that they play on every other leg of this tour, and there is no way you can be disappointed, either they play that and your transcended to another universe, or they shake it up and your taken even further... I fail to see the problem.

Personally if they were to play nearly the whole alloted time slot with their regular show they do now, and then the last hour or so they play other hits that have not played in a long time I would be exstatic. I really think that we are overthinking the whole Tool thing here guys, they are going to bring it, and they always bring it. By the way it is Roo and they are getting headliner pay along with the fact that they are going in knowing that Radiohead had a killer set last year. I think they will want to one up a killer performance from a not usual roo band (radiohead) with another not usual roo band (tool).
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
Any way you have it, Tool is going to knock our socks off. I haven't seen them before but I'm pretty sure of atleast that. I for one am just excited for a chance to experience this performance for the first time. My point earlier is that no matter what the band plays, both Tool and the crowd are going to blow each other away into another universe!!!!!! ;D

well it's the fact that that is all they will play. there is nothing wrong with their hits, i love every tool song. but by only playing those songs they would be excluding stuff like third eye, pushit, dispostion/reflection/triad and they wouldn't be playing a long set. i don't expect them to fill up that whole time slot like wsp, but for them to only play 90 min. in that slot would be a disapointment.
Thing about the setlist for a "straight-foreward" set though. It really wouldnt be much different than what I expected anyway. And I really hope you guys arent actually getting your hopes up for Third Eye lol. Pushit I can see a chance of them playing, but almost certainly not Third Eye.
Anyway, I see the setlist being something like this:
Vicarious Stinkfist The Pot Sober Rosetta Stoned Forty-Six and 2 Schism Wings For Marie/10,000 Days Lateralus Parabol/Parabola Ænima
maybe with one or two little suprises thrown in, but I dont think they'd put in Third Eye.
Earlier I said Third Eye, but I meant Forty Six + 2...Third Eye would be cool, and appropriate at Bonnaroo if they piped in the Bill Hicks dialogue, but I don't see that one coming.

No Right in Two? I am hoping to God that they play that.

I figure they'll put in Right In Two, Jambi or the Pot, maybe 2 or those. If thats the case, I'm hoping for The Pot and Right in Two.

Tool must play "The Pot" at Bonnaroo. Otherwise, bets off. If you watch the Tool setlists they occasionally toss in something totally unexpected so I fully expect that the unexpected will happen.
I would almost bet the bank that they play "The Pot" especially after what Danny said about playing festivals vs. arenas. And not to mention it's an awesome song(yes overplayed on radio I hear) but I have XM so I dont hear it as much. everytime I hear this song my boyfriend and I look at each other and one of us is bound to say "I can't wait to hear this"

Having seen Tool twelve (yes twelve) times before, I feel I know a little about the subject. Would I be surprised if they come out and play their normal 90 minute set...no. Would I be surprised if the played two hour long sets with a break in between....no. That's what I have learned....with Tool, expect the unexpected. Maynard and the boys seem to do what they want. I did happen to see the thread where someone has a "mock schedule" of who's playing when, and I have to admit I was a little giddy about the three hours slot alotted to Tool. My idea of a perfect set? An hour and fifteen minutes of random earlier stuff then a short break and then 10,000 days in it's entirety....A boy can dream, can't he?
11/2/19: Tool 5/17/19: Blues Traveler 5/9/19: Tool 11/10/18: Tenacious D 9/20/18: White Denim 7/23/18: Radiohead 6/4/18: Jack White 5/20/18: Tool 5/18/18: A Perfect Circle 5/18/18: Alice in Chains 5/6/18: Blind Melon

i think everyone is misinterpreting this whole entire thread. after reading dannys comment, "driving into the ground" to me seems like a short, hit filled set list, which is what their regular venue shows consist of. all danny carey is trying to say is that festival goers receive special treatment for their dedication. overall, this is not going to be a regular set list, nor will it be a short one. i picture tool doing something you would never expect. I could see tool getting up there, abandoning their entire light show, and jamming with the rest of the others longer than any band ever had at bonnaroo. any band who understands the basic theory of music has the ability to "jam," and i think that tool is way beyond that by now. im not saying that this will actually happen, but i just think we are taking danny careys words and twisting them into something negative. light show or no light show, set list or no set list, this show is gonna be something none of us can even comprehend right now. and anyone who has ever been to a tool show can agree with me. my personal fantasy set list of this show:
(set1: lateralus)
The grudge eon blue apocalypse the patient mantra schism parabol parabola ticks and leeches lateralus disposition reflection triad
(set 2)
pushit opiate eulogy the pot prison sex jambi 46 and 2 sober wings for marie1 10,000 days 3rd eye vicarioius aenima

I think my bowels would empty if that set list is true, and I mean that in the best way I can possibly put it.

There is no way in hell tool would play a normal show. They HAVE to know that this place more than any other you must bring a) your A-game b) surprises c) your friends or at least d) 2 out of three. So I'm looking for A-game and surprises out of Tool. They cannot be that fan-friendly and screw this up.
