Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Just thought I would let Inforooers know that there is no way they should miss Kings of Leon's set at the Roo. They played 20 songs last night The Vogue in Indianapolis and they killed it. It was a great venue (i'd never been there), even better rocking crowd, and the guys were on fire at the sold out show. The setlist is below (though I can't recall it all in exact order):
Black Thumbnail Taper Jean Girl King of the Rodeo True Love Way Soft My Party Fans Arizona Molly's Chambers The Bucket Milk Four Kicks On Call California Waiting Spiral Staircase Trani
Encore: Knocked Up Charmer McFearless Slow Night, So Long

Yeah, I was a little disappointed at no Ragoo as well. However, my roommate and I were talking on the drive up about what songs we thought we would and wouldn't hear. In a club atmosphere, I don' t think Ragoo is one to play. But we both said it's a must at a festival, and particularly Bonnaroo, because of the extremely catchy, fun vibes of the song.
It's pretty promising also, because in several interviews Caleb has said that they treat their festival sets in a completely different fashion than their club settings. Just to give you a little hope.

I saw Kings of Leon open for Ben Kweller 4+ years ago and they were HOT. Can't wait to see them with 4 more years of playing under their collective belt.
I'm really pumped for their bonnaroo set. At first I was saying the Mule latenite set was my most anticipated show at 'roo, but thats changed to KOL. Everytime I've seen these guys they get better and better, I really wish I could make the Tabernacle show in Atlanta. Last time they played there it was awesome, then they had an after party downstairs (in what used to be the Cotton Club)...it was my second time meeting the guys and they all seemed pretty down to earth (not what you would expect but they seemed geniue).

Okay, here's the mandatory dissention.
I really dig their music but, the vocals annoy the hell out of me. Depending on how the schedule works-out, I may check them out...but they're not much of a priotity. Just my $0.02

That's understandable, everyone's entitled to their opinion. I mean, I'm not attempting to compare these two at all, but people said the same thing about Dylan as well. Same thing about Craig Finn from The Hold Steady. Same thing about Robert Plant.
Kings is my favorite band, and I have just never had the problem of vocals bothering me (with anyone really as Tom Waits is one of my favorite artists as well). It's just a matter of taste.

Awww. Oats I used to like you and think you were cool. Now this. You have made a huge mistake
Seriously though, I love his singing. That marble-mouthed drunken singing is what makes KOL what it is.
There lyrics might be annoying if you've never seen them live too. Stereo/studio is very different sounding. For example...I never got into charmer that much with the screaming but they opened with that in Houston and DAMN that song Jams!
Haha, I was just gonna say I CANNOT STAND the screaming/yelps at the beginning of Charmer. It is so damn grating, but as it goes along the yelps get more bearable and it's a pretty good song. I need to listen to the album more. It's like parts of it I really dig, but other parts of it turn me off. So I've yet to listen to it all the way through. Despite that, I'll probably try to catch part of their show. Please convince me I should.

Kings of Leon are definitely on my "must see" list in schedule planning, however I could think of a much better setlist that I'd hope they play. Razz, Dusty, Talihina Sky, Day Old Blues and Holy Roller Novocaine... just to name a few that I am anticipating at the Roo.
Huh...I saw them play in support of their first album, and they performed in a manner that underwhelmed. Perhaps the boys have grown up since I saw them last...

my first kol expirience was @ roo 05 and they blew me away. if you dont see kol atleast listen to them play trani live, its amazing
I've never seen KOL live. They're actually playing Toronto the night before we leave to Roo, but I passed. It was hard, but I don't want to be burnt out for the 13 hour drive (plus I'll be the one doing 95% of the driving).
BUT I agree, that song rocks, especially hearing the live versions.
Anyone know if Caleb still has that whiney voice when he sings songs from Aha Shake HeartbreaK? Like the way he says 'soft', and things like that...gives my goosebumps.
actually they played soft when i saw them thursday and it was amazing, caleb's voice is as great as ever! dont miss them @ roo, you will be disappointed

Don't worry ; ) there aren't many bands I want to see more than these guys. Looks like they might play Saturday afternoon. I'm hoping it's a 3:00 show, as opposed to a 5:30 show.
I guess either way Saturday afternoon is gonna screw me with many conflicts
Love the vids. I'd suggest checking out some of the interviews posted on YouTube as well. Really cool insight into the heads of the Kings
I spent the better part of a Saturday watching many, many KOL interview vids on YouTube and really enjoyed it. I had no idea they were so into fashion or about their family roots, etc. KOL will be my #1 must see band at Roo. Since they are so big, unlike in '03, they will probably be on a stage instead of a tent and I'm almost dreading it because it will be too hot in the sun and Caleb won't get to see my "Bohemian dancing".
