As one of the original Lipheads of the world, I cannot and willnot miss these guys at Roo... I only hope that they will play something from before the Soft Bulletin (besides Jelly of course) I know I am in the minority, but the quality of Lips songs began to sharply decline in so many ways when Ronald left and Steven gave up the drums. I LOVE the wild carnival loud trippy frenzy of the brilliant old days. Hit to Death and the Future Head, Priest Driven Ambulance, Oh My Gawd, Transmissions, Clouds Taste Metallic, Telepathic Surgery, Hear it is... that's the true Lips to me. Will they play Frogs? or Halloween on the Barbary Coast? or Rainin' Babies? Doubtful, but it is Roo, so I still hold out hope. When I was in a tiny club in NJ back in 1994, and the walls and ceiling were completely covered in Chruistmas lights (still in the packages, stapled to the walls,) and the band launched into a 20 minute psycadelic jam session of Mountain Side... it will never get better than that. And Zaireeka and the Boombox tour where I actually got to get on stage and "be in the band" so to speak... so cool. I feel with the bland Radiohead ripoff garbage they are obsessed with these days, they have sacraficed substance for style. I like when they played rockin' music, and would trade a bunch of dancing animals and UFO's to get back to that without a moments notice. Wayne, you used to be so much cooler when you didn't know what you were doing... now all I see when I see you is a bunch of pretty theatrics and choreography. I preferred it when you ROCKED!!! But if anything can save your soul... well its got to be ROO. I have my fingers crossed... oh and anyone out there who does not have "The Flaming Lips are Providing Needles for your Balloons" find it at all costs. That album is the Lips at their Rock star best. Now all we get is spectacle yes... but really no more than a pretty Broadway show.

What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
tough call, probably be a game time decision and i may just go with the scott amendola band, seriously, could be the sleeper show of the fest considering what it's stacked against

tough call, but it'll prolly be the Lips and then a bit of Mule if possible.....i'd really like to see the Galactic show, but i dont think its gonna be possible.......and then on to Sasha till the sun comes up!
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

This was probably the hardest decision for me. I have FLIPS as my overall #1 but i also have Galactic on my must see list. I also want to see Mule. I can't miss the FLIPS though. I'm hoping that Galactic or Mule will play longer than the FLIPS and i can catch multiple acts that night.

This is killer. I am definitely going to see the entirety of the Lips set, however it pains me to know that I'm missing the Galactic Hip Hop extravaganza... then I'll end the night with Sasha

Flaming Lips, then Sasha & John Digweed. I will hate doing it, but I might have to leave the Police early to get a good spot for the Lips, there is going to be waaaay too many people there.
well, you ask me why i'm drunk all the time it levels my head and eases my mind i just walk along and stroll and sing i see better days and i do better things

You know, I remember a while ago someone posted a thread asking if anyone wanted to run with them in the mornings cause they were training for a marathon. In my opinion, making it to all these shows would be enough training for me
Lips are my number one priority and with them playing a 2.5 hour set, you know they are bringing the goodness. Thankfully they are on the Which stage, so that gives them about 4 hours to get all of their stuff set up (UFO, etc.).
Then I will run over and catch the last half hour of Galactic, but hopefully they go long. And then swing by Sasha and Digweed, because they will probably go even longer. 6 p.m to 6 a.m on Saturday should go down as my best 12 hour span of live music ever.
