Hey, this is gonna by my first roo, so i've been trying to make a schedule for the weekend that will let me see all the bands I MUST see plus still have time to take a peek at a couple other bands. So, for example:
-If I finish the Cold War Kids set at 2:15, and want to see Kings of Leon at 3:45 on the What Stage, how much time can I spend at the Tortoise set in between if I still want to get a relatively good spot to see KOL?
-If I want a good spot for Flaming Lips at midnight, what time do I need to leave the Police?
Yea I would definetly agree that we could give you 60 opinions and you're going to get there with his plan all laid out and id be surprised if you stuck to 25% of it. Just go where your ears/feet lead ya
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

This is so true. I've been going the last two years and the first year we spent the entire ride to Bonnaroo agonizing over who would be going to which concert, where we would meet up, how much time we would need so as not too miss someone, etc........IT NEVER WORKS OUT THE WAY YOU PLAN IT, AND THAT'S A GOOD THING! The entire weekend is an adventure, and so much the excitement for me has become not knowing where the weekend will take me....only knowing that no matter what happens it will amazing and never forgotten. Pick two or three shows that you have to see, and make sure you get there about 30 minutes ahead of time (okay, maybe 2 hours for Tool) to get a good spot. Other than those, JUST HAVE FUN! Let the weekend and your countless new friends take you wherever you may go....

Yeah i have a very broad schedule ready for me with only a few bands in the must see area so, and all the other times I will just follow my ears/feet/nose (my nose is attracted to strong herb smells for some reason )
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
Its all based on personal preferences. I fell we're constricted by times and schedules the other 361 days out of the year so for these 4 I don't have the least bit of a game plan. There are 3-4 bands I am absolutely going to check out, but other than that its a matter of what catches my ear. I know Ive been walking to several sets I planned on seeing and ended up sitting in on a set from a band I didnt know. Im the most organized, plan happy person I know but its nice for these 4 days to not have to. Its tough to pick and exact time for you to get a good spot cause for me a good spot is in the back on a blanket. I already know what the band looks like

lol my nose too.......and its seems to transform into this heighten ability at Roo. Last year: "What should we check out next?" **sniff** "Smells like we should be at Cypress Hill"

Thanks everyone. I'm definetly getting the impression that I shouldn't over-schedule everything, just revolve everything around my must see bands.
But one more question, more opinion-based....
I really, really want to see Flight of the Conchords/Demetri Martin in the comedy tent and the best time for me to do so at 2:00 on Sunday. I would like to maybe check out some other bands before hand like The Slip and Elvis Perkins on the Sonic Stage or maybe a little John Butler Trio, but from my understanding there is often a wait outside the comedy tent. Should I show up at the comedy tent a couple hours early in the day or can I show up like 30 minutes before the show and use the earlier time to float around?

i have learned from this board that when you think, this would be my best time to see this, like your demetri martin exmaple, there are tons of other people thinking the same way. i thought i would start off the weekend in the comedy tent seeing lewis black, but looks like that is almost everyone else's plan as well. i probably won't wait in lines for anything and i wouldn't recommend anyone doing it, because there is so much more to see. but staying at ons stage is not bad at all.in 05 i stayed at the main stage almost the entire weekend. but that year was just better for that. i mean, how do you top alison krauss, followed by allman brothers, followed by dmb? this year i plan to do more stage jumping. if you really wanna see a particular band it's not a bad idea at all to camp out at a stage all day. sure you will miss lots of things going on elsewhere. but you will also see some goreatt hings right where you are. it's all uo to you.
