So I had full intentions of seeing Mavis Staples this year. I love her father's work and the work they have done together. So i decided to see if she is actually still recording and lo and behold she has a new album that came out this year. So i started reading the description and about pooped my pants...taken from iTunes....

So yeah....the possibility of Ry Cooder and Ladysmith Black Mambazo at Roo on the same stage has gotten me flipping out! What do yall think? any chance of this happening? I'm thinking there is a huge chance for this to happen.....good god i love bonnaroo.....

I seriously doubt it, because she is more of a minor act in the Bonnaroo lineup and that means not much emphasis on her set. Also those are two major artists and I don't see them making an unannounced festival appearance. Especially LBM, which I'm sure require a lot of expense for travel. But hell, it would be awesome. I'll be there anyway, so I sure hope we see something special!
The new album is amazing - it's mostly reworkings of civil rights era protest songs plus a few new ones. Like Steve I don't expect LBM or Ry Cooder, but I do expect an amazing set. Her voice gives me goosebumps.

I'll be there as well, I'm crossing my fingers for any surprises!
I absolutley LOVE Mavis Staples. She is one of the highlights of this year's lineup for me. I won't miss her set for anything. I can also see her sitting in with another artist or two.

i don't think Ry Cooder or LBM would be there unannounced. she will probably have her regular band with her. i saw them on a tv show recently and there were awesome.
i want to see the Mavis Staples set but also want to see the John Butler Trio so i'm torn.
