Let me suggest you not chant demands/request at maynard.
oh i know, what tool is like. but this is bonnaroo. it's different. how often do they get (potentially) 50,000 people doing a third eye chant? or hundreds of signs?
I agree it would be awesome. They could even get David Cross to do the opening Bill Hicks jokes. But if they don't come planning to play it, they aren't going to play it. They have a set list meant to be an experience that they want to project onto the crowd, and that crowd should recieve it openly.
Plus he'd just get all moody and yell, and I'd rather here what he came to say instead of what he got mad and said.
any other suggestions for bands that may actually listen to the request?
I suspect that a lot of the bands, especially bands that have played 'Roo before, would be open to requests. Especially the cafe type acts. Or the more jam band type acts. I would go for acts that have been together a long time....they tend to depend less on set lists and can go more on the fly with signals and stuff...get less rattled when something unexpected happens...
the problem with tool is that their shows are an exact science. the songs are way too complex for them to just play a song they havent rehearsed or are prepared for. im sure tool will rock hard, but honestly... i dont see them playing for over two hours and with little or no deviation from their current set list. (please may i be wrong)

I think we'll get a bonnaroo set list, i also wouldn't be too surprised if they went for 2 1/2 hours, which is my guess. Its been done before, and bonnaroo is a place to do it again.
