ahhh. i was at bang too. it was terrible haha. i'm a die hard modest mouse fan and they cut their set short, i kind of wanted to burn down the festival right then and there. but i'm glad daft put on a good show for you, i'll be seeing them at lolla.
word is that Modest Mouse sucks hardcore at festivals.
They were actually pretty solid at Roo '05. Sound was great and the setlist was good (the mixed in a little more off older albums, and didn't just play all of Good News). Though the one downside was that it looked like the band wan't having a good time, though I think they always look like that I pretty much expect that from them though
I think the really tricky question is "who should headline next year", and when I saw Bruce Springsteen pop up here I thought that was a very interesting idea for a headliner, especially if they use the model of variety similar to this year for headliners.
Muse. ditto on the Sigur Ros, Peter Bjorn and John, and Daft Punk sentiments. I'd also be down with Gouryella. Ani DiFranco NIN (holyfacemelting - and a great lead up to late night!) Peter Gabriel would be a great throwback if he's still performing. The Cure would be interesting, I think they're working on a new CD, right? Smashing Pumpkins. So far the new CD sounds amazing. Quite possibly a headline act. OK GO The Strokes Imogen Heap (I would love this latenight.)
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this
Ditto on Sufjan. He should have been there this year. And after seeing them do "Masters of War," the Roots can play every year as far as I'm concerned.

I've heard that Sufjan refuses to play outdoor shows.
I think My Morning Jacket is ready to headline next year. What do you guys think?
I also think Prince would be great.
Other suggestions...
Cream Paul Simon R.E.M. Ryan Adams Peter Gabriel Jack Johnson Explosions in the Sky Sigur Ros Gnarls Barkley Magnolia Electric Co. Drive By Truckers The Shins Dark Star Orchestra Greyboy Allstars Rilo Kiley Jens Lekman Willie Nelson Kanye West Wolf Parade Assembly of Dust Del McCoury Band of Horses Cornmeal The New Pornographers Super Furry Animals VHS or Beta Ferry Corsten Stephen Malkmus Jamie Lidell The Go! Team Iron and Wine Built To Spill Nada Surf Grace Potter and the Nocturnals Medeski, Martin, and Wood The Notwist The Postal Service Stereolab Royksopp Tapes n' Tapes The Yeah Yeah Yeahs
I will probably get totally flamed for this but I would love to see the Stones headline saturday night. They are still a shitload of fun, imo. Don't know if they are significantly more expensive for Superfly than an act like the Police, though..

Bob Dylan Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band Tom Waits Rage Against the Machine Van Morrison R.E.M. Robert Randolph Someone with the last name of Marley The Flaming Lips The Raconteurs/The White Stripes Public Enemy KRS-One The Roots Toots and the Maytals Massive Attack Mavis Staples
Bob Dylan Neil Young Roger Waters Eric Clapton Bruce Springsteen Tom Waits Allman Brothers Band Black Crowes Trey Anastasio My Morning Jacket Arcade Fire Mars Volta Peter, Bjorn and John
After seeing Bonnaroo's willingness to put HUGE acts on their second stage, I think it opens the door for someone like Tom Waits to play a late night/second stage closing spot. He wouldn't be a headliner, but could fit a White Stripes/FLips spot. Trying to stick to the model from this year...
Friday: headliner: Pearl Jam (Tool) which stage late night: Oysterhead (SCI)
Saturday: headliner: Bruce Springsteen (the Police) which stage late night: Tom Waits (Flaming Lips)
Sunday: headliner: Phil & Friends (Widespread Panic) which stage closer: Willie Nelson (White Stripes)
Oysterhead makes sense to me, with no Trey or Les this year, and with Stuart being so restricted. If Pearl Jam doesn't play, I think it will be Prince. some sort of top 10:
Bruce Springsteen Pearl Jam Phil & Friends Tom Waits Willie Nelson Arcade Fire Oysterhead (Primus?) Modest Mouse My Morning Jacket
After some thought here's my list in no particular order...
Prince (headliner) The Dead (or at least Phil) Trey (and if the planets align, PHISH!!!) Pink Floyd (as long as the planets are aligning, why not?) Keller (I love him) Xavier Rudd Umphrey's Disco Biscuits Willie Nelson STS9 Karl D Mule Galactic Yonder Mtn Zappa plays Zappa Violent Femmes (been saying this for 2 yrs) Beastie Boys (fun, fun, fun) Pearl Jam alo The Mars Volta (I'm caught up in the frenzy) Robert Randolph The Duo MMW Les Claypool (in some form) Nancy Griffith (for some mellow afternoon chill time) Dark Star Orchestra Bowie Del McCoury Allison Krause Franti & Spearhead EOTO and MMJ for becca
... and some surprises from bands I've never heard of
Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes Pearl Jam Phil Lesh and Friends (or DMB)
Everyone Else:
ROSE HILL DRIVE Ryan Adams Tom Waits Willie Nelson Allman Brothers Derek Trucks Band My Morning Jacket Marty Stuart Les Claypool MMW w/ Scofield Umphreys Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings Grace Potter Steve Earle w/ The Dukes (no acoustic show again) Violent Femmes (good call on whoever said that earlier) Jupiter Coyote Levon Helm (he should do a late nite ramble type deal w/a bunch of different people) Lucinda Williams Todd Snider Ry Cooder
