...Saturday. Its either going to be Govt Mule or the Galactic show. I guess the majority of people are going to the Flips and it will suck to miss but these two seem to beat it for me. Id like to see the whole set which ever one I decide to go to. I was thinking that the Galatic show might be better since they obviously wont be touring with all those guests but who knows what Mule is going to do. Anyone have any suggestions or arguments on whether to see Govt Mule or Galactic?
I was Mule about a week ago and it was incredible so Ill be going Flips>Galactic. The sets are really long and staying in one spot for that amount of time is harsh so I would recommend tent hopping.
I dig both of these bands, but with the multitude of guests Galactic will have, that show has crazy dance party written all of over it.
Seems like it will be a funner, crazier vibe which is what you want out of your late night show.
Galactic by themselves is sick enough, but I mean c'mon..... Charlie 2na, Mr. Lif, Gift of Gab, Boots Riley, and many more, That makes it a Must See for me.

My night will consist most of Flips and then move over to Galactic. It would all be different if the jazz tent was to open up and have no lines then I would be over at the Philly experiment set, but that is going to be way packed.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

We had a hard time deciding between Flips and Galactic, but with all of the additional artists Galactic is bringing to the table plus the amazing energy they already have, i have no doubt it will be an unforgettable show.

I would pick Galactic just because it's a show that you're unlikely to see again. Government Mule puts on a good show everytime no matter where they are, as does Galactic... however Galactic doesn't always have all the special guests which could make or break the show, but probably make it.

I think everyone is forgetting that Mule's latenight set is claimed to be "Special" as well, and they don't say it unless they mean it. I'm expecting just as many, if not more, guests at Mule as there will be for Galactic. I will be attending Mule, but that said you can't go wrong with either of them.

I wouldn't be SO sure of that.....Galactic's next cd features the guests from their performance....many of whom are on their new label (Epitaph/Anti)....so there could easily be a tour with those guests.
Also....when was the last time anyone saw Mule without some guests? I mean maybe it's an NYC thing....but I think it's been five years (10 shows or so) since I've seen Mule without them bringing someone out....people like Mike and Page, Robert Randolph, Toots, Kid Rock...the list goes on and on.
Galactic is very tempting....but I think I'll watch the UFO land and the first hour or so of Flips and then head Warren's way.

kARMA That is exactly what roo is all about, I understand wanting to catch a full set, but you do get to see a lot more walking around, but sometimes the crowds can be a royal pain as you are trying to move around.
Saw first hour of what the show will be at SXSW for Galactic w/ Boots Riley, Gift of Gab, and Lyrics Born. They were only allowed to play for an hour, but it was the best thing i saw at the whole festival. Cannot wait for more. Flips will be hard to skip though with that UFO......
i'm planning to catch the first 30 minutes of Flaming Lips....just enough to see the spectacle. i'm not really into their music, so then it's off to Mule for me. i've seen Galactic many many times, and they are ALWAYS a ton of fun....special guests will make it that much better, but i would be totally shocked if Warren didn't have at least 4 or 5 special guests of his own playing with Mule. i think the mule show will be epic, and i'll most likely be there for most of Sat. latenight.
