well, I'll tell you that I'll be up as close as I can. I was only 11 rows back for my last Tool show, and I dont think that moving back would make it any better. Its going to be amazing nomattere where you stand though.
Tool's stage set up is quite the spectacle, and i intend to soak it up as much as i can visually.
For me, this means trying to view the show from about 75 yards back or so. If i can see beyond the stage with my peripheral vision, i'm too far back, but if i can't see the whole setup, i'm too close..if that makes sense.
yea although i've heard that tool purposely does there stuff so that the people in "bad seats" get some type of special treat like the stage being a screen that really only the nosebleeds can see
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
"They won't break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then that we will see the rising of the moon."

The important thing to remember is that tool specifically puts on these spectacles to try and distract you from looking at Maynard, they've been doing this for years. The challenge is to take your eyes off the amazing show to catch a glimpse of the band. With all the Theatrics going on, this can be very difficult.
"When I was 4 years old, they tried to test my IQ. They showed me a picture of three oranges and a pear. They asked me which one is different, and does not belong. They taught me different....is wrong." -- Ani Difranco
Humanity has advanced, when it has advanced, not because it has been sober, responsible, and cautious, but because it has been playful, rebellious, and immature.

^^ and hopefully you end up in a very enjoyable, fun space inside your mind which I hope I will be doing myself. The only place you need to be for this show is in a comfortable space, and let Maynard and the boys take you to the other side. See you at roo guys.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

At a TOOL show I prefer to be somewhere in between the middle and the back... the music will be plenty loud, so no worries there. Just be somewhere where you can see the stage and the light show... its incredible this year!
I'll be up in the bleachers to catch the full perspective
See I thought bleachers to begin with then someone told me they were too far off to the sides to full enjoy the lights/lasers. Have you viewed previous shows from the bleachers and if so do you think it will be just as mind blowing?
well, I saw them in may. I wrote a review of it. it's somewhere here in the Troo Music lounge. I can bump it for you if you like. Anyways, I was up in the nosebleed section, which, when I got the tix, disappointed me. But after seeing the show I was really really glad I was not on the floor and was up where I could see everything happenning. Looking down on the stage was a great perspective. I could see the visuals really clearly, as well as the stage. The stage was lighting up with the visuals. It was really cool.
I only climbed up on the bleachers for part of the Radiohead set last year, really only one song at the end, b/c truth be told, I enjoy being on the ground at the mainstage. However, for Tool, I think it is going to be necessary to be elevated to take in the full experience of the visual show. The bleachers are off to the side, but they are not so far off to the side that you can't see anything. They are actually pretty close to the stage, and the elevated view gives you a full perspective of the stage that you simply do not get on the ground. You are on the level of the musicans, so to speak, so instead of looking up and through the crowd, you are looking straight ahead or down onto the stage. Whoever told you that the bleachers are too far off to the side to get the full perspective of the lights, is frankly, full of sh*t. The view is fine from up there. In fact, it's WAY BETTER than anywhere on the ground, except maybe in the first 10 rows.

Karma to you for a thorough explanation and helping me make yet another tough decision.....I will be atop the bleachers Friday night
