I feel like I was running around all weekend and did I really see ALL of anything???? ??? But...yeah I know I MUST have!
OK....I think this is it:
Thurs:
The only full show I saw was Rod Y Gaby but what a show!! Def one of the best of the weekend (prob third behind Nightwatchman and White Stripes for me)
Saw part of Clutch but left to catch Rod Y Gaby....
Friday: Caught the Press Only Acoustic Set by Elvis Perkins and Cold War Kids Full Sets: Nightwatchman (Highlight of the weekend for me, front row, stage left....so much energy! Def different than Rage or Audioslave, def political, but wow! Tom was on, the crowd was on, and it was awesome! Guerilla Radio acoustic was worth it, no matter what!! And meeting him after at the CD signing and making him laugh with the Lock Up CD....priceless! ) Tool (Never seen them live before, great visual show, and Morello guesting was the icing on the cake for me!
Sat: Sat was my "working" day so the Police was the only set I saw full out; I have to go against the grain and say I really enjoyed it! I mean, no it was not the "best" concert I have ever seen, not the cleanest or the hightest energy, but it was FUN!! I LOVE those songs! And they were having FUN! I mean, if you have ever seen a Police or Sting concert/DVD before you would have seen the diff between Sat night and before, they were REALLY enjoying themselves and not caring about being "Perfect" like usual....And isn' t that what Bonnaroo is all about?? Partial: Regina Spektor Ben Harper: loved what I saw, wish I could have seen more! John Paul White: local guy - great voice! Ziggy Marley - awesome as usual! Girl Talk - was ready to dance! Sasha and Digiweed
Sunday: Whole Sets: Mavis Staples - The Grande Dame of the party. If you missed her, you missed out. She did a brief reprise at the Decemberists. White Stripes - My second favorite set of the weekend! Jack and Meg rocked! The Decemberists - not really my cup of tea - but had to be ready for The Stripes....
Lewis Black: Not all that funny in my opinion with the exception of Finesse Mitchell. But still a good time waster early in the day. (2/10)
The National: I was a little dissapointed in this set, especially with the pre-set up (took forever!). The show didn't live up to expectations. (4/10)
Rodrigo y Gabriela: Fantastic show. Excellent musicians. Not much more can be said here. (8/10)
Friday:
RX Bandits: Very fun. Tons of energy flowing through the crowd and the performance increased because of this. (8.5/10)
Cold War Kids: Only caught a little of this but still sounded very good.
Kings Of Leon: Very good show. Crowd was pretty big for it too. (7/10)
The Black Keys: Excellent performance and LOUD. (8.5/10)
Tool: I have to say I was not impressed. I came in with an open mind but left dissapointed. (4/10)
Superjam: Amazing show. Ben showcased how he is one of the top slide guitar players out there. JPJ and ?uestlove were outstanding. (9/10)
Saturday:
Railroad Earth: Good way to start the day. easy to listen to. Good show. (6.5/10)
Gogol Bordello: So much fun! Incredible live performance and so amazing to be up in the front. (9/10)
Damien Rice: Didn't catch the whole set, but was impressed with what I did see.
Ben Harper: Fantastic. Best show of Bonnaroo in my opinion. Best that I've seen Ben. The whole band played well and the sound quality was some of the best of the weekend. Each instrument stood out well. (10/10)
Flaming Lips: Light show was amazing. Music was above average. Tons of fun. (8/10)
Sunday:
Pete Yorn: Good show. Not anything special however. (6.5/10)
Wolfmother: Tons of fun. Very good performance. (7.5/10)
The Decemberists: Amazing show. Fun and funny at times. Music was exceptional. (9.5/10)
White Stripes: Incredible. Up there with Ben for best shows this year. High energy and the crowd was amazing. Crowd surfing at White Stripes haha. Would see them again in a heartbeat. (10/10)

OK, here goes nothing:
Top 5 Shows
1. The Flaming Lips - I love the Lips but was sorely dissappointed with them at Lolla in '06. Luckily, after their show on Saturday, I have a quality performance to contrast with Lolla. This show was everything I wanted the Lips to be. Beautiful, majestic, exciting, and very personal at times. I know Wayne talked a lot, but they played the right songs and the things he said really struck a chord in my heart. Wonderful memories...
2. The Hold Steady - Another band I had knocked after a subpar performance at Langerado. Knock no more, these guys fed off the crowd and tore That Tent to the ground. Wowwy wow wow. What a set. I felt like I was on steroids I was so pumped. Craig Finn looked like a kid in a candy shop, he was grinning ear to ear. I look forward to seeing them at future Bonnaroos.
3. Old Crow Medicine Show - Why haven't I seen anyone talking about this show? It was the PERFECT Saturday afternoon show. I danced my face off, the crowd sang every word, and the band appeared to be having a blast. Everyone around me was awestruck and looked to be having the time of their lives. They even encored with a cover of Bob Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay."
4. Manu Chao - Manu Chao is the man. My calves are killing me. It is all his fault. He is just something else to watch. Bonnaroo needs to bring him back late night. What fun.
5. Tie - DJ Shadow/Girl Talk - My traveling companion felt that the biggest mark made on him this weekend was that of the DJs playing the festival. He was so impressed, he felt like he would go out and learn everything he could about the genre. Both of these shows were tremendous, fun, and dance-driven. And Shadow brought out Lateef. That was awesome.
Other quality performances:
The Police - I felt like they did quite a bit of jamming. I had embibed properly before attending, and thus enjoyed the show immensely.
Gillian Welch - Only saw the back end of this show, but couldn't have been more impressed. I lover her before, I will never miss her set again. Fantastic.
Tortoise - Spaced out. I just laid in the back and listened to this show and loved it.
Lily Allen - Saw just the beginning and was impressed by her energy.
Gogol Bordello - Only saw the last few songs, but was totally impressed. Never enjoyed their studio stuff, but I now see the allure. I would see them again.
I split between Ween/Franz/Harper/Spoon and saw about 3-4 songs of each. They were all excellent. Harper and Ziggy doing Get Up Stand up was a highlight. Glad I got to hear "Bananas and Blow."
Superjam was everything it was ever meant to be. I had a blast. Did anyone else notice that JPJ was teasing "Another One Bites the Dust" during the extended "Superstition" jam?
STS9 was entrancing. I went over and caught them after Superjam and Shadow. I was exhausted so I only caught a bit, but they were great. I'm going to see them late night at Lollapalooza.
The Jazz tent needs to return. It was really very cool.
We left on Sunday around noon so I didn't get to see everything I wanted, but frankly, I had a really packed Friday and Saturday, and wasn't too upset given that I had to work Monday morning. I'm glad to hear The Decemberists were so well received. Hope Bonnaroo brings them back and puts them on a Friday or Saturday. Same with Stripes and Wilco. I thought it was poor planning that all three ended up back to back on Sunday when so many people are planning to head out. With that said, that was probably the point (to keep people around and spending money).
Aziz Ansari was hilarious. David Cross was really kind of mediocre.
I'll be back next year, and we've decided to go RV/VIP. It will be my 4th Bonnaroo, and first ever VIP.
I hope that Superfly makes all appropriate adjustments to logistics to make it another successful run.

Ok, overall my first Roo was a great experience. Here is what i was lucky enough to see:
Thursday:
Rod y Gab - WOW!!! What else can I say that hasn't already been said. I didn't know a thing about them, and they blew me and my roommate away. Absolutely one of the best sets of the weekend. Caught a few songs from the Black Angels and the national, which sounded good, but was tired and wanted to get some rest for the long weekend.
Friday:
Cold War Kids ( Full Set)- Pretty good set. Nothing special. may give them another shot at Lolla. Franti and Spearhead- Really, really good. Never had heard them before. Was one of my roommates musts. Glad I went. I have been converted. The Roots- The Roots are one of my favorite groups, and I thought their show was great. Perfect blend of hip- hop and jazz, had a cool, laid back jamming vibe. They just love to jam together and have fun, and i felt it. TOOL- Ladies and gentelmen, this was the show of shows. Tool picked up Bonnaroo, bitch slapped it around, and layed everyone to waste. Anyone feel like they had been through a war after it. I did. Looked like a battlefield after they ended with bodies on the field and people walking around like " Wow, that wont be topped" When Maynard opened with " I smell petuly oil" you knew he was going to do something the Roo hadn't seen before. INCREDIBLE!!!!! Late Night- Went to a few Superjam songs( Dazed). It was good, but to far back to see. Then went and finished out with SCI, which was preety good, but after TOOL nothing could have topped it. Way too tired to fully enjoy Late Night.
SATURDAY:
Railroad Earth- Really good. What i needed after Fri. night with Tool. A laid back show. The Hold Steady- Love their new album. Thought they were really good. Ween- Stayed for the first hour, since i saw them last year close Fri Night Lolla. Always impresses me how good their show is. Haper and the IC- Saw last hour. came in when JPJ joined. Great timing. Though it was a good, laid back show. More laid back then when i saw him last year. The Police- about what i expected. Good, but nothing special, and only an hour and 40 minutes long. Come on guys. Late Night- Saw first half hour of Galactic ( and the last 10 min). First half, not my thing, cause galactic wasnt on stage. Last part was awsome Saw 1 hour of the Flips( 1230 t0 130)- Ok heres what i think. There were aspects of the show I loved( SHOOT WAYNE, Yea Yea Yea song) but wayne was very preachy. His ramblings chased me away, and im glad they did, because it led me to: MULE- Unbelievable. Though Galactic and the Flips were where it was going to be at, but i was wrong. Ill never doubt the MULE again. Simply one of the best shows of the weekend.
Sunday: ( chill and reflect )
JBT- Impressive from what i saw. Wolfmother- like them, liked their show. was way too hot though. N. Miss. All-Stars- only stayed for 3 songs but loved what I heard. THE WHITE STRIPES- Was why i went. was not dissapointed. Jack is the man. Perfect way to end my festival. cant wait to see them at ACL.
Overall, a great experince( except the f@#king dust, and improvements that are needed in VIP) Best sets by far: 1. White Stripes 2. TOOL 3. Mule 4. Rod y Gab

Full Sets:
The Black Angels-Good, but after awhile it becomes a little too much of the same for me.
The National-Kicked ass. Too bad I was exhausted from the drive, and was sitting most of the show.
Tortoise-Awesome show. A little bit of a noise rock/jazz/electronic thing going on, and I loved it.
Hot Chip-They brought the tent down! I was dancing my ass off. Hot Chip will break your legs...
The Roots-Very very solid show. All the added horns were a nice touch. They seemed to be having a phenomenal time up there too.
TOOL-Light show was amazing, but a stupid ass crowd surfer ripped my glasses off my face, and they were destroyed by the time I found them on the ground (and I was a good distance from the stage too). This unfortunately put a huge damper on the rest of the set for me. They still rocked, and I will be seeing them again in a month, so I'm looking forward to that more so now.
Superjam-Officially blind for the rest of the weekend, I was determined to still have a great time, and thankfully I did. I expected them to rock some Zeppelin songs, but what we heard was a real treat. I anticipated straight forward renditions of the Zep tunes, but was pleasantly surprised when they decided to really jam out and explore those songs in ways I'm sure they haven't been played. John Paul Jones is by no means washed up. He had the whole crowd rocking to his bass grooves.
DJ Shadow-I was glad I got to see all of this. I was a bit tired from the day though, and sat for a good portion of it. After he finished, nothing else seemed to be going on, so we went back to camp to sleep.
Gogol Bordelo-Wow do these guys have energy on stage. A great time was had by all.
The Hold Steady-My surprise of the weekend. I liked their stuff, but never really saw the big draw of it. Well after this weekend seeing them, I can say I get it. Just a fun band to rock too, plus the lead singer hates the Yankees too
Spoon-My main reason for checking out The Hold Steady was to get a good spot for Spoon. We ended up about third or forth row. Being blind it was nice to actually be able to see a band again. As for the show, it was fantastic start to finish. We even got them to come out for an unscheduled encore. If you have not checked out this band, please do.
The Police-Let down honestly. They were still good, but nothing great at all. I was expecting much much more. I liked that they jammed their songs a little, but they honestly had a very bland set. I was a little behind the soundboard area and to the right of the stage, and the sound was absolutely terrible. Very quiet. The night before, after my glasses incident, I retreated back farther for TOOL and the sound was fine. Why couldn't the Police crank it up a little?
The Flaming Lips-Oh my god! One of the best shows I have ever seen. War Pigs soundcheck, space ship, other "festivities", the balloons, and Wayne mumbling nonsense between songs just made it one huge party/sureal environment. I swear not one person was sober in my section. You think you're so radical!
Wolfmother-Awesome show, but I saw none of it. I was laying down the whole time, trying not to die of heat exhaustion.
The Decemberists-Found a shady spot right behind the soundboard/vending area. I would have liked to have seen the show, but at that point staying cool was priority number one. All in all a good show. The Crane Wife was well played, and the Weight was a nice surprise.
The White Stripes-Jack White loves his guitar. Wow does he put emotion into his music. Nice set, with a good mix of songs from all the albums. They are one band where I honestly could care less what they played though. I like pretty much all their material.
Partial Shows:
Cold War Kids-Stayed for a few songs of their set, but wasn't too impressed so we moved on.
Gov't Mule-After seeing the setlist, I am a little dissapointed I didn't see the whole show, but I still would go to Flaming Lips presented the same choice again. If I hadn't already seen John Paul Jones the night before, I may have been more upset. We ended up getting there second to last song of the second set. And then came the first encore. Black Sabbath at it's finest. They rocked the sh!t out of War Pigs. What a great song, and it was the second time I got to see the song in roughly three hours.
Sasha & Digweed-Headed over to this after Mule finished. I was dancing my ass off. And I can now officially say that I have watched someone play till the sun rose. What time did these guy end up finishing anyway?? It had to be at least 6-7 in the morning by the time I got back to my tent.
Pet Yorn-I have seen him before, but it was nice to hear some of my old favorites of his mixed in with the Smiths cover.
Wilco-Headed over to the main stage for Shot in the Arm through Spiders. I have seen them before, and wanted a decent spot for the White Stripes, so we ducked out after chilling and grabbing some food.
I was not completely dissapointed in any band, which was a first for me at Bonnaroo. It was also the first time I made it till the end of the night as far as bands still playing went. And I did it both nights, including staying up till past sunrise with Sasha & Digweed. Dust was everywhere, and you couldn't do anything about breathing or eating it all weekend. As much as the dust sucked, I will still take it over a rainy Bonnaroo anyday. Showering today felt better than a shower has pretty much ever felt, well since last year's post Bonnaroo shower that is SEE Y'ALL NEXT YEAR!
Dr Lonnie Smith and Lou Donaldson......fantastic, that jazz tent/club thing was sweet Clutch...very cool and hard rocking (only caught a couple songs) Rod & Gab....didn't know what the hell to expect and they were great
Fri:
James Blood Ulmer.....wish I woulda saw Uncle Earl, he was kinda boring so i left 4 songs in Apollo Sunshine.....saw um on the Sonic Stage and it just wasnt my cup of tea Kings of Leon....one of the best shows i saw, even with the technical difficulty Nightwatchman.....caught two tunes, (kinda preachy but its what you;d expect) Gillian Welch..caught her last song w/ JPJ (Jackson) and it sucks I couldnt see the whole show Black Keys....saw most of the show and I must say they were f**king fantastic Dierks Bently....caught 1 song by him and that was plenty Tool.....Holy Shit, what a great show(by far the best headliner this year) the jam w/ Morello was sick Superjam...the sound kinda sucked, but Ben was tearing it up and JPJ was great
Sat:
Warren, Jorma, and NMAS on the Sonic Stage....Warren was kinda boring, but Jorma and NMAS picked up his slack and were great
Ben Harper.....show started strong then he started playing his slow stuff that I didn't like so I bailed (wished I would of stuck it out) The Police....uh, terrible the highlight of that show was meeting Demetri Martin and hanging out with him and making fun of Sting for a little while Flaming Lips.....saw the whole UFO landing/bubble thing and it was cool, but I was too far back to really take it all in and I came to rock Mule .........holy f**king nuts why are more people not talking about this show....greatest Mule show I've ever seen (outta about 20 or so)...Jesus that show was worth the long ass wait in line, all the blisters on your feet, all the beer you spilt or had spilt on you, having to go into nasty ass porta pottys, and all else that bonnaroo has to offer. Damn that show was great, I'm getting pumped again just thinking about it
Sunday:
Mavis Staples.....holy shit, second best show next to Mule for me. The Weight, Respect yourself, Will the Circle be Unbroken, damn that show was great. She took everyone in that tent to church, hated I had to miss JBT, but I would of done it again in a new york minute Junior Brown................another good show North Mississippi Allstars....I dont think anyone enjoys playing 'Roo more than these guys, they did not dissapoint White Stripes.....So damn dusty and way too crowded, i caught Jolene and some other song that were great, but crowd was just too damn big (why the hell are there no screens on the 2nd stage????) Widespread Panic.....great way to end 'Roo, Jimmy Herring is great and they sounded good...just a bit too much jam, the songs started to run together, but I still had a great time seeing um
Overall Top 5:
1. Gov't Mule 2. Mavis Staples 3. Kings of Leon 4. Tool 5. North Mississippi All-Stars
Thursday : all full sets The Little Ones: Northing more than ok... Black Angels: really dig their sound and one of my favorite roo surprise acts Mute Math: brought serious energy and charisma, Will def make plans to catcj eme again Tea Leaf Green: FKIN WOW! these guys (imo) brought the hot fire... forget panic let these guys headline someday Ziggy: fun but it was too hot to really appreciate
Friday: full sets during the day Tortoise: Pretty sweet KoL: were much better than when i saw em at roo in 05 Roots: as always rocked out as hard as anyone else Tool: No surprise here... it was great and since i had camped at What stage all day i was in a perfect location.... (did anyone else see Maynard walk over to Morello and hand him a telephone which Morello answered and slammed during his solo Superjam: I can cross off JPJ off my list of musicians ive seen but i though Superjam was kinda weak esp following tool EL-P: not to shabby wasnt really paying much attention Shadow: really tore it up. IMO hes one of the truest and most talented DJ's STS: i was pumped for their show but i only cought a glimpse after shadow... wtf why did they end so early
Saturday Gogol Bordello brought a great show to the table... Really fun and engaging Ziggy: all remember was the heat during his set Silent Disco: decided to check it out since there was shade there... had a blast Police: much better than expected as was what i had taken about an hr earlier The Flaming Lips: i can't express the amount of love i have for this band. Seen 3 times before roo and their roo show was truely something special... I noticed alot of their tracks were re-worked and sounded better/different Sasha Digweed: I'm a huge fan of dance music and these two are legengds... fantastic set.. great crowd.... great feel
Sunday was really low key for me Sat in the shade all day and napped woke up and saw the decemberists and White stripes front row then left for home
