Please help. I am new to this torrent stuff. How do I get these shows?
Torrents aren't like regular downloads, they rely on users feeding each other. You'll need an always-open internet connection and preferably Broadband.
- Start by googling "BitTorrent" which is software used to manage the downloads (there's many m,ore, it's just the one I know). - Download and install it. - At the bt.etree page click the torrent link and the torrent should start, pick a folder, click OK and sit back, get a beer...take a bath...go to bed. - The point is that these are not fast downloads; it depends on supply (users "Seeding" - making their data available) and demand (number of users downloading). Downloading without uploading is frowned upon and known as 'leeching'. Overnight is not unusual, even longer sometimes. - When you download is complete, leave bittorrent open so that others can get the benefit of your bandwidth in return (it's perfectly safe, no-one can hack in to your PC via a torrent).
Depending on what you pick, you may end up with a FLAC file - post back here if you don't know what to do with it.
Only while you are downloading or seeding, but you really won't notice it. You can set the maximum upload width in bittorent and pause up/downloading at any time. Don't feel that you have to seed for ever, I usually aim for 200% or 24 hours of inactivity before I close a torrent.
wow thanks for the help with torrents. quick question, how long should it take to download a complete show? karma too for the help
Like I said above, it's supply and demand. I got the White Stripes down in a half hour, Franti in about an hour but Tortoise is only 61% complete after about four hours. No coincidence that that's probably also their order of popularity. More people downloading = more people seeding.

The Gillian Welch was posted and then removed. Several things might have happened. The artist may have requested it (not everyone is "taper friendly" even at Bonnaroo), the taper may be having hosting issues or there may have been flaws with files that require some tweaking. Hopefully the torrent will return.
ccrgmac has provided a bunch of useful info about bittorrent downloading and I thought I'd kick in a little more. This is from something I wrote a few years back to help people new to bittorrent get started:
The Great Big World of Downloading Music
-First make a new folder, I call mine "Music" and I keep it under My Documents in Windows Explorer. This is where I put all my programs involved with music downloads, including:
* Shadow's Experimental BitTorrent download client software This is a program that allows you to download files from Bittorrent trackers. A bunch of different kinds of files are available, including audio, video and software. The two we're most interested in are files that end with .shn and .flac. These are the most common types of music files. (mp3 files are for last resort only, their sound quality blows)
- Now make another new folder, I call mine "Downloaded Music". This is where I put the files I download as bittorrents. So, go to the assorted Bittorent sites and find a show you want. Find the "click to download" link. The pop-up box will ask if you want to save file to disk, which you do. When you click ok a new window opens - go find the Downloaded Music folder and click on it. One of the little icons at the top is to make new folders, click on it and a folder will appear saying New Folder highlighted in blue. Hit backspace to make New Folder disappear and type in the name of your concert. Say you found Pink Floyd from July 25, 1975. The file should be: PF_1975-07-25. Hit save and now the torrent file will be found in the PF_1975-07-25 file. Go to that file in Explorer, open it and click on the torrent file you find there, the Bittorrent program should open and your concert will begin to download. Proper BT manners dictate that even after you finish your download, you should leave your program running a while so others can continue downloading from you.
Once you have downloaded your set of concert files, you'll need to convert them to wav files. Open the program appropriate for the type of file you're starting with: shn or flac. Either program will allow you to place the converted files back into the original file folder, I recommend that. Once converted, burn to CD and enjoy!
Terms: .shn - "shorten" is a type of compressed music file .flac - "free lossless audio codec" is another type of compressed music file wav - standard music files burned to CDRs by your computer bittorrent - a program that allows you to download large files more quickly

Went back and checked my etree emails and found that both the Gillian Welch and OCMS shows were taped and uploaded by the same guy. Hopefully he'll get whatever problems he has worked out and the torrents will be re-offered soon.
Thank you so much for these bootleg links jambandjohn, you got my first karma give away for that! The tortoise one is of particular interest to me, I took a lot of video of that show and need some good audio to sync it up with. I'll keep you and others posted when i get some of that done, thanks again so much!
hey guys, I am Dave from gigpedia.com, we are trying to get links to all bonnaroo 2007 content, mp3s, videos, webcast, no ads on the site.. this is not spam, just an attempt to build some community.. There is a bonnaroo section and the front page of the site is updated as new downloads arrive No hard bittorrent stuff, just links.. www.gigpedia.com ... there is even a Bonnaroo section you can post to.. and have the community vote on what is the best..
I posted this in the other downloads thread, something was wrong with the torrent posted and the guy is gonna fix it and put it up later, so it isn't working right now.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
I saw his silent disco set, and downloaded his arcade disco set. Amazing stuff! What other dj plays lots of Beatles, Panic, Zep, Rage against? Really fun, high energy. If anyone downloads this set and doesn't dance, they're probably in a coma.
From Motion Potion's myspace page, free mp3 download of the arcade disco set, silent disco set coming soon:
This is one of the best sites I've found for downloads. It links to the torrent files but also has asf (video) and MP3s. I know you're not supposed to circulate MP3s in the bootleg community but it will definatly help you guys who don't want to get too technical with it! Happy downloading!!
