sorry but i'm not sure if this is the right thread or not. anyhow. i was back at camp during tool, camp oddjob, and came in through the entrance in the back of the concert field for the back forty. as i was walking through the field i had never seen so much garbage. i particularly noticed it as i was walking through to the which stage over the walkways by the vendors. it was pretty gross.
actually i did notice that, we sat & waited until everyone cleared out and in the state i was in i had to laugh about all the garbage i saw, it looked like a landscape from another planet. didn't see it after the police but after widespread it wasn't nearly as bad, but in all fairness there were probably 1/3 as many people at that show
yeah. it was pretty gross though. it was everywhere. regardless there was a lot of garbage everywhere all weekend. ive just never seen so much in one place at one time.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this

The shocking amount of littering is by far my biggest pet peeve about Bonnaroo. I simply cannot understand why people think it's ok to finish their drink and just drop their cup next to them and forget about it. Saturday late night I was sitting against the wall of the discoteque listening to Mr. Logic, and some asshole in a Utilikilt finished his bottle of water and dropped it, not just on the ground but ON ME, and walked off. I grabbed it and threw it at him, but he didn't notice. Not the best reaction I know, but the littering just pisses the hell out of me, if that colloquialism makes any sense.
Litter is shocking, but at the same time it's 80,000 people. Because it's Roo- you'll also see immediate response by good souls who start cleaning up. We did some clean up post-Police. Even with all the litter you saw, they average 56% of all trash at Roo diverted from Landfill to recycle-- that's freaking amazing!
i picked up a couple pieces of trash when i would walk out of the concert field but was pretty skeeved at what i was touching. i did it though, like they said if each person picks up one piece of trash.
The trash and the rude people are the main changes from the early Roos. Mainly the trash in the campsites bothers me. At the main stage there are never enough receptacles but trashing your own camping area (or worse others areas) is inexcusable. Oh well, I guess it comes with a more mainstream crowd.
Yep, was awful after the Police too. As we finish off our water or anything else, I put the empties back in my backpack until I can get to a recycling and garbage spot. So, with zero garbage on the ground from our crew at the end of the Police show, I picked up our blanket and looked around to see bottles and trash EVERYWHERE around us. I strapped on my pack, threw the blanket over my shoulder, and my wife and I each picked up as much of other people's recyclable garbage as we could carry. It didn't even make a dent, but with hands full we just let out a sigh and took what we had to the recycling bin.
I think next year I might grab a few extra of those green recycling bags and bring some gloves and join the rubber glove crew. The littering did totally disappoint me. I don't know why I had expected better, but I had and I was definitely wrong.

I didn't get to see ithe garbage due to the mindless barrage of insane pushing from the crowd to get of the stage area. That crowd for the Tool show was crazy, and it seemed like no one could muster up anything for some type of encore. Like they forgot how at the time.

Our crew found spare bags from the Clean Vibes folks, took extras into every show, and spent 5-10 minutes picking up trash after all of the mainstage shows. I was impressed with the number of people that helped clean up or brought their trash to our bag. It at least made us feel like we were making a small difference.
Just to let everyone know, most of the cups and plates in Centeroo were fully biodegradeable. At least the clean vibes folks were a little smarter than the rest of us!!!

are ya'll saying that Tool ended early, too?
F@ck yeah they did, and the crowd was disrespectful in leaving just pushing through knocking people over. One guy was hitting people in their sides as he was running through the crowd, and I just went off losing my cool but there were so many assholes pushing ,and people were so close together that there was barely room to move your feet w/ o getting them stepped on, and yes the trash was ridiculous , it was causing people to trip and step on other peoples feet.

I noticed more trash and filth this year than any other!...and so much faster than before! I think that the garbage gardens contributed (in part) to my less-than-stellar Bonnaroo this year. It was ridiculous and disgusting!
Where were the rude folk at? We were back-center, past the beer tent. The nasty people must have been up front? Because we didn't see any a$$h*les. NOT SAYING THEY WEREN'T THERE. I thought the crowd was worse after The Police. My wife has a bum knee and I was worried I was going to have to raise hell to get her out of the crush. Back on topic: The trash was horrendous. Did anyone see the mist tent after Tool. Not only was it a junkyard, it was a soggy junkyard!
I think certain people here are underestimating how hard it is to be a normal human being when you are having your face melted by a performance like that while being in a state that normally would not be sufficient to function in everyday society.

That said I don't think I left anything behind.
agreed. and I didn't have anything to leave myself.
Oh, there was their fair share of arses... One clear example: after the show, my friend and I were waiting on someother friends, couldn't find them , so we decided to just screw it and go to the Superjam alone. On the way there, we were walking and behind us there were these 2 guys, being really loud (no problem there) and getting progressively louder as they approached(still, no problem, people having a good time, right? Wrong) These guys were pushing everyone out of the way, bumping shoulders hard, and yelling "Get the F*CK outta the way!" I turn around and surely, what t. shirts are they wearing? Tool and NIN. Two of my favourite bands. I felt ashamed. "Please, do add to the stereotype..." But that's no big deal, it was a great show, and nothing or no one can ever obscure how much I loved the show.

Yeah, the trash seemed to be everywhere within hours of the festival starting! I guess that's what happens when you get a more mainstream/less hippie crowd, but it was still gross. There should be you get a raffle ticket for every ten pieces of trash you turn in or something.
^^^ they already do. Clean vibes has a raffle every year, you get a ticket for every bag of recycling. I believe the prize is tickets to next year's Roo.
