hey tnx for the karma ... i hate people that always say "been there done that", but when it comes to music, i cant keep it back about the shows i have seen ... i feel like a turkey saying i have seen so and so, but i am proud of my misic history .... when you have seen the greats of the past , the beatles, doors, jimi, janis, and went to some of the great past fests, woodstock one, altamont, watkins glen, etc, i feel so lucky that i got to see who i did ... and i am still going strong lol .... peace to the board ... cr****
For me, I love hearing the "been there, done that" stories when it relates to music. I think it's because music is so in our hearts, our soul that you get a bit of it with each person you meet and their personal musical experiences. Bring on the stories!
The thought of this popped into my head at Bonnaroo. Hey, if stewart can bring the police, i think JPJ can bring Led Zeppelin.
Agreed here. This was the first thing I thought of.
And, not to be a music snob, but is it really a reunion if Bonham is dead? I understand it's Bonham's son on drums, but that's still not the original lineup, thus can't be a reunion in my mind. Just food for thought...
I saw Jason Bonham back in the late '80s with his self-titled band, and he was really good...but no, I don't think it can be a real "reunion"...but really, I don't care about proper syntax. It would still ROCK!!!
Again, not to be a buzzkill, but just take this info with a grain of salt. I still haven't seen any recent articles saying they WON'T be getting together! Here's hoping JPJ can swing it.
You know, people would take you seriously, like me. However its very essential to read the articles first.
First off, the first article only talked about how that Page and Plant were in the same hotel in Los Angeles, and were in town together. The stupid writer in the article took that as a precursor to a reunion, which it wasn't.

I would cut out my kidney and sell it on the black market to see Led Zeppelin live. Makes me sad that John Bonham can't be there, but hell....it's 75% of Zeppelin, which is good enough for me. That would be amazing.

if the cheapest police ticket was 200 bucks, imagine how much zeppelin tickets would go for. i am so going to spend the money though. if they played roo i would probably shat myself.
This man came up to me just the other day, asked me I'd been born again. I told him, "I didn't think I had." That I had been rejected. But I think, Hell's got all the good bands anyway. And Bonnaroo.
I told my wife about this rumor this morning and she said it's not Led Zeppelin w/o John Bonham. And she's right. And that's what Plant and Page have said since Bonzo died, which was always their excuse for not doing a reunion. Sooo, I doubt this amazing thing could happen...........
But it can't hurt to pray to Corn Cat for a miracle!

^^^I think the vast majority of this thread is just imagining the unfathomable. In all reality I really doubt any of those 3 will headline next year, and probably only 1 of them will even play there (MMJ). I do, however, absolutely love to picture myself in a crowd at the What Stage as night falls and I'm sitting there rocking out to some Zeppelin.

I beg to differ. I think MMJ is getting really close. The fact is...we're running out of bands that are "big enough" to headline. Most of the headliner types have either already headlined, or have headlined other major festivals numerous times (see Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Bjork, RATM, etc.) Someone has to graduate at some point. I think MMJ and the Arcade Fire are the next two big bands to graduate to headliner.
As for the Allmans, you are probably right. But variety is the spice of life, and I really don't want to see either Phil, Widespread, or Trey in that spot.

I just came a little in my pants after hearing this. Just to see me some Page, that guy is one of the most badass guitarists of his time!
I'd love to have it: Friday: Radiohead (I know they already did, but come on, you would totally be down for another) Saturday: Led Zeppelin Sunday: Ledhead (Radiohead and Led Zeppelin doing a collaboration concert, haha! I know, that's crazy, but it'd be amazingly....amazing!!)

First off, the first article only talked about how that Page and Plant were in the same hotel in Los Angeles, and were in town together. The stupid writer in the article took that as a precursor to a reunion, which it wasn't.
And the second article is from today, not 2003.
Looks to me like the second article WAS from 2003, not 2007. I thought the headline gave it away: "LED ZEPPELIN 'As Close As Ever' To Reuniting: JEFF PILSON - Jan. 22, 2003". If you read further than the headline though, you can see the writer talking about the "newly formed" though yet "unnamed band" made up of "old GNR" members. He's talking about Velvet Revolver, which, at the time of this article's publication, didn't even have a singer.
It's also funny to note that even almost five years ago people were talking about when Chinese Democracy was going to be released. You can even scroll down to read some of the comments, left, when the article was written, in 2003. Like you said, before you jump on people, it's "essential you read the articles first".
Anyway, looks like it's confirmed this latest rumour was just that --- Plant went on record saying he's never even heard of this proposed tour, and if it did happen "there wouldn't be enough doctors to support it".
Does Plant still have the chops to pull this off? I keep hearing from people how his voice has rapidly degenerated over the past few years...
Plant sounds terrible now and:
ROBERT PLANT Shoots Down LED ZEPPELIN Reunion Rumors - June 28, 2007
Robert Plant has shot down reports that LED ZEPPELIN will reunite for a one-off memorial concert in honor of their late record company boss.
A report was published earlier in the week suggesting that Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones will re-group alongside John Bonham's son Jason for a special concert in memory of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun in London.
A source was quoted as saying, "Page, Plant and Jones spoke and agreed to do the memorial concert. They are waiting for a definite date.
"And no one can quite believe it, but during discussions about the concert they all gave the green light to a tour if it all does well and they don't all fall out.
"It has been hoped for and denied for years. But this is the closest they have ever come to a reunion tour. The feeling is that this is going to happen next year."
Speaking at a press conference for the upcoming Rockwave festival — which is scheduled to be held June 29, June 1 and June 3 in Athens, Greece — Plant insisted that he hadn't heard anything about the rumored ZEPPELIN reunion and jokingly added, "If there was one, then there wouldn't be enough doctors to support it!"
Ertegun died in December 2006 after seven weeks in a coma following a fall at a ROLLING STONES concert.

I'm sure John Paul Jones let it be known how much fun he had ; )
That's what happened with Copeland from the Police. I don't have a doubt in my mind as to why they played 'Roo is because Copeland kept talking about how much fun he had with Oysterhead (Man, what a great show that was.....).
I really don't see where people get the idea that MMJ is big enough to headline. They're nowhere near as big as The Police, Tool or even Widespread Panic...or any of the other bands that have headlined in the past.
I just heard on the radio that the supposed Led Zeppelin reunion isn't happening and that it was all just hearsay.. Which totally bummed me out, just the thought of hearing 'Going to California' live sent shivers down my spine, but on another note, which I'm sure most won't really care about, The SPICE GIRLS are reuniting for an 11 date tour!! ahhahahaa yea funny stuff huh

Can't stand Zep. Sorry, but I hope this rumor is dead once and for all. I'd rather see a great artist of OUR time, instead of these guys who were notorious for getting high and screwing up their performances.
