Man, I love Zeppelin but I was very happy to see that this isn't going to happen. Do you guys really think that they would sound as good as How the West Was Won or any shows during their heyday? They really are shells of their former selves in a lot of ways, not to mention the fact that they're missing John Bonham, arguably their most important member. I think a show like that (or a current show by the Who/Rolling Stones/any other really old hard rock band) would be depressing if I was a huge fan rather than exciting. Let the past stay in the past where it can be perfect for ever.

I saw the Rolling Stones last year and they rocked the house big time. Definitely not too old to be performing still. I think a Zep reunion would be worth the price paid.
Can't stand Zep. Sorry, but I hope this rumor is dead once and for all. I'd rather see a great artist of OUR time, instead of these guys who were notorious for getting high and screwing up their performances.
Heres to Bjork and The Cure next year!
Yeah, except they influenced like 99% of the great artists of OUR time. I hope you're being sarcastic, really. I'm sorry, but I'd rather see a band like Zeppelin who was legendary than Bjork OR the Cure any day (and I really like the Cure). I'm not going to smite you (despite my love for Zeppelin) but honestly...you've kind of been an ass in other threads too....quit being a music snob.

I'm a music snob for not liking Zep? Maybe they just sound like a nasty pentatonic rigatoni chef boyardee disaster to me?
I'm not going to deny their influence, but there were plenty of other bands that were responsible for todays music equally and on heavy metal, such as Cream, The Who, Black Sabbath, etc.
And the part about music of our time was to emphasize the PERFORMANCE. Even if I liked Zep, a reunion show would be dissapointing because of their age. Haven't we learned our lesson from The Police?
Looks like you are as much of an age snob as anything, and I resemble that remark. It would take pages to list all the older rockers who can still perform hot sets. Just because the Police left you less than satisfied this year, doesn't mean all performers who are aging are having the problems you were dissatisfied with. You are showing a bit of immaturity in your musical taste I'm afraid. Try to take another look at the ones who made today's music possible.
Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I would smite you, though. Everyone has an opinion and I respect your right to have one, too.
It wasn't the reference you made to not liking Zep that caused that remark, it was the reference to the fact that they couldn't come together and make great music again because of their age....
I have had my quota. I've heard enough. I don't want them to headline. Even if they reunited, it just wouldn't be the same. Their day is done. It was a GREAT day but it's done.

Whether or not anyone agrees with your critique of Zep is one thing, but to call Bjork and the Cure great artists of our time is just not right. I probably wouldn't even put them in my top ten modern artists. Definitely Radiohead, Flaming Lips and My Morning Jacket ahead of them. How about Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, and the White Stripes? Yes, yes, and yes.
I don't mean offense here, so please don't take it that way, but if you want Bjork and The Cure, go to Coachella, because that is the kind of bill they will book. I pray Bonnaroo never goes in that direction, particularly with their headliners.
I don't want them to come anywhere near Bonnaroo but there's nothing wrong with The Cure. It wouldn't happen anyway, Bonnaroo conditions are too harsh for hair gel.

i can't imagine not loving Led Zeppelin. but that's just my perspective. i think that one day Plant, Page, and Jones will play together again. but i have no idea if it will be at Roo. it would be AWESOME tho. also.... less than a year ago there was a "rumour" about a reunion for The Police. so....
1 more thang... i think that The Cure would be fucking awesome at bonnaroo!!!

Hey lady, you've got the love I need Maybe, more than enough. Oh Darling, Darling, Darling, walk a while with me Oh you've got so much... So much... So much...
Karma for you miss.
I saw Robert Plant a few years back, on his Mighty Rearranger tour. Now while there was no way he would ever be able to hit those super high notes anymore, his performance still kicked ass. JPJ already proved that he can rock, and Page killed it on the Page and the Black Crowes tour a handful of years ago. Would they sound like the original Zeppelin? No. Would it rock? Most definately. Some songs would be played the "Zeppelin" way, while others would be rearranged and changed completely. They are notorious for doing this, just go check out the Page and Plant album No Quarter. For all I care, they could headline all three nights. Bring on the Zep!
HECK YEA I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ALL THEIR CLASSICS.. LIKE WAITING FOR THE BUS, GIMME THE CAR, BLISTER IN THE SUN, AND KISS OFF.. THEN END IT OFF WITH DANCE, MOTHER F#CKER, DANCE... BUT TO THE DUDE BASHING ZEP I HAVE TO SAY FORUMS ARE NOT THE PLACE TO EXPRESS YOUR HARSH FEELINGS TOWARDS OTHER PEOPLES FAVORITE BANDS.. DO THAT WITH YOUR FRIENDS AT HOME..

Femmes would be perfect to play....
As for Zepp.. I already saw Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation and now JPJ at Roo'. So I'm kinda content seeing half of em'. It's just too bad I'd rather see the other half... but that ain't happening so I'd rather have a different headliner..
I don't think The Cure will ever be booked at Bonnaroo, but I think people a lot of people would be eating their words if and when they saw The Cure live. They're pretty damn good. It might be an unpopular opinion around here, but Disintegration, as a whole, is better than any album Zeppelin put out. And Robert Smith's voice is one of the more amazing I've heard live.
I'm not sure how I'd feel about Zeppelin coming to Roo. I'll let the rumor linger out there a little bit longer before I begin to form a definite opinion. I definitely love me some Zeppelin though. I'm a I-III guy though. Not a huge fan of post IV Zep...
Wow, if Led Zep headlined Bonnaroo 08 I could probably get my dad to go. VIP, of course.
Haha mine too! Prolly VIP and RV (if he can convince my mom to go along) I've already been working on him, he went to the first Woodstock and though he's left behind most of his hippie ways since he had kids...I KNOW it's still in him!
I'm all for The Femmes and even Zep playing. Police was a bit of a disappointment but I ended up about 15 people back for the Flips so I can't be too sad.
The only thing that would keep me from Bonnaroo next year:
Friday - Toby Keith Saturday - Limp Bizkit Sunday - Creed reunion with The All-American Rejects guest appearance.

ahahahah, and how about a superjam with Nickelback + Friends?
