so we have all talked about all the good sets. did anyone see any bad ones? who sucked the most? for me it was regina spektor, hands down. actually she was the only one that i saw that sucked.
Annuals were dissapointing. I guess I expected to hear something like what's on the albums. They were kinda' bland and off. I still love their studio stuff though.

I think the only disappointing one for me was Damien Rice, but that was probably more of the sound crew's fault cause I couldn't hear a damn thing. But I wasn't too upset cause I just left and got a fantastic spot for Ben Harper so it was a good thing
T-Bone Burnett, and The Black Angels weren't that great either. Other than that, I loved every show I went to.
I loved the Black Angels but I was very offput by T-Bone Burnette reading his lyrics off a music stand. Not just glancing, but reading to the point that he had to put his 'signature' sunglasses on the end of his nose to look over them. Couldn't stay long after that.

you must have been way back? we had no problems hearing him and it was a good show.
The Decemberists didnt impress me, but i mean, its not their fault, im sure if i was inside and air conditioned it would have been better. just a little to slow for the heat
Probably not the answer people want to hear, but I didn't see a single bad set this year. I actually thought the preformances this year were better than last year for some reason.

The worst sets for me were Clutch and Tool.
Clutch played amazing, but they hardly touched anything off of Elephant Riders and Transnational Speedway League. And I wasn't feeling their new stuff.
Tool also played well, and the light show was amazing. But I got there way too late to get a good spot. With the What Stage, it seems like you have to miss three or more other shows to get a good spot. If you can't do that, you're basically in the middle of an insane mass of people far back from the stage making the exchange between myself and the musicians very impersonal.
As far as worst set Musically, there was not one show I saw where the music was either horrible or completely turned me off.

clutch was awesome. i wish they played more old stuff, but they don't anymore. the new stuff is good. as far as tool goes, it was an amazing show. i don't think you have to be there that long to get a good spot. people leave after every set and you can move up. or you can do the usual work your way through the crowd thing (without being an ass about it)

I have to say (please don't smite me) The Nightwatchman sucked for me - not what I expected - really wish I had gone to Kings of Leon instead
Oh yeah, I forgot about that performance.
The reason being that I showed up, didn't like the song being played so went and got food, came back still hated what I heard so I played a game of hacky sack, heard a bit of guerrilla radio being butchered to hell, and then left.
Yeah, pretty bad in my opinion. Needs to realize he's awesome only in the accompany of others (and preferably an electric guitar)

I actually wasn't too far back... I'd say maybe 200 yards or so? I mean, yeah not right next to the stage by any means but for the Which Stage and not a tent I thought I was relatively close.

we were way back for flaming lips and the sound sucked. seems like there was an awesome show going on, but we couldn't tell from where we were. maybe that's what happened to you with damien.

Karma to you Jay. You embody the Bonnaroo spirit!
Everyone should be as positive as you are. Love you.
Oh and Tea leaf Green at The Other Tent - we stayed for two songs and left - caught them at the Sonic Stage and it was great.
The sound at The Other Stage just really sucked if you were in the back - there was major bleedover from the disco/arcade and to ctry and combat it - it seemed by they kicked the bass at The other Tent way up - which drowned everything else out
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
POLICE sucked. we waited until Roxanne to leave only because that was the one song my gf wanted to hear
I can't say they sucked but I can say I was not impressed - we were all the way on the left side of the stage - we made it to the back by the portapotties when they started Roxanne - so we started leaving maybe a song before that

Oh, and another thing... I love The Decemberists. Probably one of my top three favorite bands that are still alive/in their prime. They put on the best shows that I've seen, aside from the Flips.
But what were they thinking when opening with Mariner's Revenge?? Everytime I've seen them or seen dvds of their shows they close with that song, and it's a great way to end things. To me, the Mariner's Revenge is a tribute to the Decemberists fans and even when I listen to them at home, I cannot put that song on first... it just takes some warming up, or something with the Decemberists before jamming to that tune... could just be me, though.

1 legitimate complaint I think everyone can agree on, is that the Which Stage has definite drawbacks--especially if you don't get there early and/or want to watch the entire set. Getting up close for the Flaming Lips wasn't hard as I'd lost my friends and was alone, but once there I just abandoned the idea of leaving. It sucks having to push your way out of the crowd. Luckily I had a blast, but the way the stage is set up it can really prevent you from seeing/enjoying whoever is playing there.

I definitely agree with you 100% on that one. Towards the end of the weekend if I was conflicting as to whom to see and one of the performances was at the Which Stage I always picked the other one. The only two shows I stayed the entire time for there were the Flips and White Stripes, which were two of my most anticipated performances.

The Which stage has a lot of flaws, the worst is that huge beer stand right in the middle of everything. Hopefully that will be one of the priorities in their list of improvements.

Agreed. Other then that nothing else really stands out as bad for me.
not to be harsh but that was awful. i mean really really bad. i was kinda excited for them but that was bad. sting was way off. i would have preferred an instrumental set. and i didnt get into tool at all either. but i wont say they were bad. it didnt sound like a poor performance or anything its just not for me. i stayed for an hour and then got an awesome spot for string cheese. was it just me or was the mainstage quiet as hell for the police and tool. it was so much louder for widespread. people at our camp couldnt hear tool. and i went back to camp in the middle of the police and couldnt hear them either. but on sunday widespread was so loud that we could feel it. i didnt go to nightwatchman but i also heard many bad reviews about that show too. overall it was the weakest roo ive been to but i dont care because rod and gab, string cheese, mule, and widspread were so insanley great. i really only go for late night shows anyhow and i got a great show everynight.
