Wanted to reminisce about Superjam here, with the primary trio of ?uestlove, John Paul Jones and Ben Harper...
But also, let me point out the unsung Superjam member, guitarist Michael Ward... Yes, he's Ben's Innocent Criminals guitarist, but he is a stunning and steady band member with his own personal history. A principal member of the Wallflowers, Ward's biggest and most important contribution was being a part of the very special band School of Fish. That band meant a lot to me personally, but even to recent music lore it's significant. It featured songwriting by Ward and the late great vocalist/guitarist Josh Clayton-Felt, and drums by Josh Freese (in one of his few gigs as an actual band member, not just a studio appearance).
Anyway.... Superjam was great! Wanted to spread some love and throw down that 4th man fact.
I'd give props out to Captain Kirk Douglas, aka "the string assassin", who hopped on board with the Superjam for the last few songs and made his presence felt.
superjam was incredible. i was suprised that their weren't a few more people who came and played, but i definently agree with you that michael ward is a fantastic guitarist. he completes the innocent criminals

I thought the show was pretty sick. I really enjoyed how the bulk of it was a continuous melody of Led Zepellin tunes. They should of played longer, though. But I guess if it was I would of missed Mago.......

Superjam was off the chain in my books. I was even happy with the guitars being turned down low, I really was there to hear JPJ and Questlove play together and after listening to the Superjam again.....wow JPJ was on it.
Roolacksreality...that Mago show looked awesome from the video I have seen, but I just could not miss DJ Shadow....I felt I had a better chance of seeing Mago live (or MMW) before I could have the chance to see Shadow again. Was there any tapers in there other than the video taken.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

Honestly, I didn't notice. I was too focused on Medeski. He's a madm,an on that organ. I spent a couple seconds waiting in line to get into Somethin' Else and I could hear the first few tracks Shadow laid down on the turntables. It sounded pretty cool. Anyways, I'll look on a couple databases for a torrent of the Mago show.
