Has anybody noticed alot of Floyd on the radio lately? Here in my town they hardly ever play any, but all of a sudden I'm hearing it all the time. The same thing happened with The Police just prior to them announcing their tour.
Could just be a coincidence. Just wondering...
We have satellite radio at work and they play the Police at least 4 times a day.

Yeah. We should just stop. I'm gonna lose my mind by Feb-Mar if we keep this up.
It just struck me as odd, considering what happened with The Police.
Gilmour at Radio City 2 years ago holds a firm top spot in my best concerts of all time though (not counting festivals) I think he would be a GREAT (and I think obtainable) addition to the Roo Latenight sets with zero ego problems
Speaking of, the best shows ever, allow me to go off topic for a moment* #1 Pink Floyd- Yankee Stadium 1994 #2 Flaming lips- Maxwells, NJ 1996 #3 White Stripes- Keyspan Park, Coney Island 2005 #4 David Gilmour- Radio City Music Hall 2005 #5 Black Sabbath- Nassau Collesium 2000 #6 Roger Waters (on his birthday)- PNC Bank Arts Center, NJ 2006 #7 NY Dolls- CBGB's 2006 #8 Allman Brothers/Tom Petty- Dodge Music Center, Hartford 2006 #9 David Byrne- Apollo Theatre, NY 2002 #10 Radiohead- Madison Square Garden 2001 (*list subject to change in varying degrees based on my mood/memory at any given moment)

At first, I thought this thread was about extremely overweight people. To which i was gonna reply "probably".
But anyways, on to the subject. This floyd talk has gotta stop (its torture), I cant ever see it happening. Roger maybe, David maybe, but floyd highly doubtful. I honestly see Zep, or Phish at the Roo before Pink Floyd.
edit: I think its time the boys in the Allman Bros band close out the Roo. They most certainly deserve it. This band should FOR SURE be a 2008 headliner.

I wouldn't say any band is too big. However, I would definately say there are bands that are too lacking in the area of talent, and/ or overbearing in the area of suckiness.

Not hi-jacking this ship...but I happen to know a kick ass Pink Floyd cover band. "The Machine" plays the Floyd the way, Floyd played fuckin FLOYD!!!
They're definetly one of the smaller tent bands, but they'd blow your face off your skull...fo sho!!
If you guys think we could get a rise out of "The Machine" I'd start a new topic and maybe they'd take a look at the interest and take a liking to us Bonnarooers. I keep reading how bad everyone wants to see Floyd at Bonnaroo...I'm one of them, but we're likely never to see fruition of that sweet glorious dream.

no, not just awesome, that's Honkey Donkey awesome! The Machine is great... seen 'em a ton of times, but not so sure Roo is interested in cover bands. If they did pick one however, The Machine would definitely be the way to go
I've seen The Machine a few times. Definately one of the best cover bands out there. Not too sure if they're right for Roo, but I could see it going down for a tent late night. And the girl they bring out for Great Gig nails it!
I'm not for sure which year it was, but I do believe they had cover bands at Roo on Thursday night one year and I do believe The Machine was one of the cover bands there. Any other vets remember this?

yes, it was in 2003 on thursday night, the Machine was in the Other Tent from 11P-1A. they also had the Soft Parade and Sticky Fingers late night that year on Friday. How's that for detail?! ;D
I remember seeing them but not much about them. Antibalas played that same night so that's what I remember because they were incredible. Looking back at 2003, the lineup was one of my favorites.

Is anyone familiar with the Australian Pink Floyd Show? They actually headlined some European fests this year. Supposedly they have a way over the top light and sound show.
It might be cool to have them play an outdoor stage on Thursday if Superfly wanted to start doing that.
they only band that could arguably be considered too big for roo would be phish. i dont enjoy their music but i'd like to see them headline, just because of the party that they bring along and the crowd/vibe that they bring along.

I kinda hoped that Wilco would have closed out this past bonnaroo... they usually play upwards of twenty songs with multiple encores. I at least wished they could have played a little longer before clearing out for Widespread Panic...

I wish they would play Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Would that not fit perfectly at Bonnaroo? One of the, if not the, best form of psychedelic rock ever to be released, played all the way through.
