Does anybody think there is a band too big for Bonnaroo? I've heard some say they'd like to see a reunited Pink Floyd next year. I think that might be too much. In addition to it being metaphorically huge, their sound and light show would need many accomodations. Think Tool and multiply times ten. I would love to see the pig fly through a smoke ring though.
Led Zep reunion, too big. The Rolling Stones probably too big.

I think Phish would be too big for Bonnaroo.
They could fill that place on their own for 4 days with no other bands playing - and have done many times in other settings.
I miss Phish shows
I don't think the Stones would be too big - personally I would have no interest in seeing them. I would be as excited about them as I was the Police playing.....

A lot of people have said Phish should play at roo, and just as many have said that they are too big and merit their own fest, which sounds right to me, but you never know what could happen at Bonnaroo!!
many people have said they'd like to see the Stones, and whether or not you think they're too big for roo they'd be much better than the Police were IMO. Suprisingly they do put on a good show, or at least they did the 1 time I saw them about 7 years ago.

I agree the Stones do put on a great show - I saw them about 10 or so years ago. I am just not a fan of their music. And yeah they would fit at Roo a whole lot better than the Police.
As for Pink Floyd at Roo, the idea gives me goosebumps ;D

OK, so Floyd will probably never reform, but how about this... Roger Waters headlines Friday with Nick Mason on drums, and David Gilmour leads the Superjam on latenight Saturday with Richard Wright on keyboards They never have to see or speak to one another, and I basically die and go to Heaven, a place located somewhere on the Darkside of the Moon ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
First off, I think it's important to remember festival connections and how they play a major role in determining headliners.
For instance, I don't think there's anything to suggest that Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones or U2 would ever play Bonnaroo. Pink Floyd's broken up. Paul McCartney, U2 and the Rolling Stones all seem to only play solo stadium type gigs.
Whereas, I could see Led Zeppelin and Phish playing Bonnaroo because both groups have connections to the festival. The Police are an act on the scale of the aforementioned acts. In fact, I would go as far as to say The Police are THE biggest act that either Bonnaroo or Coachella have ever booked.
So no, I don't think the popularity of the band is an issue. I think it has more to do with connections, timing and the willingness of the band to play festivals. Not a lot of major arena level acts are willing to play festivals.

^^^Did you read my post before yours? That's what I was talking about... Mason just toured with Waters, and Wright just toured with Gilmour Waters does Floyd style arena shows, Gilmour does Jammy style loose shows ...and I might expand more every day, but I will never move on
Yeah, I think both guys were on tour around the same time as Bonnaroo the past two years, and there was speculation as to whether or not they'd make stops. Perhaps they aren't interested, or perhaps it's just been a matter of timing.
Although if you did manage to snag one of them, THEN I think you can begin the Pink Floyd at Bonnaroo speculation...

I love how CR's tix were issued by Ticketbastard.... damn straight! 20% 'convenience' charge, on top of a service fee??? Then another $3 to print the tickets... on my own paper and ink??
Ive actually heard recently some things about Mason playing with Gilmour and Rick Wright again, which would essentially be Momentary Lapse/Division Bell-era Floyd. All that would be missing is Waters.
And just to make it clear, I dont think anyone here is EXPECTING a Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin reunion, but we all like to hope.
I personally will take Floyd in any form that they want to appear in.
If Phish or Zeppelin did a one off sort of thing or a very short (<5 date) tour, then that'd be too big for Bonnaroo...it would sell out so fast and be filled with people going to see a single band, rather than going for the experience.
Has anybody noticed alot of Floyd on the radio lately? Here in my town they hardly ever play any, but all of a sudden I'm hearing it all the time. The same thing happened with The Police just prior to them announcing their tour.
