Ok I started the Gwar thing, but I'm against it now. This year I think Flaming Lips were the the perfect band for that slot. In 2004 Primus was the right choice. I forget who it was in '05 and I wasn't there in '06.

What band or performer should be in this prestigious slot next year?

my guess is moe will be on which stage either friday or saturday. and hopefully umphreys the other night. but i kinda doubt that UM or MMJ would get the latenight slot again so soon. but they are both getting huge so who knows.

Well, of course I'm gonna say Mars Volta, but I think it should be on Friday....

but other than that, and on Saturday...

My Morning Jacket automatically comes to mind....
as does Allman Brothers...

another nice late night on the main night would be Arcade Fire...

To play that stage and slot, you have to have a very solid fan base, approaching a mainstream appeal... Allmans might be too popular for that slot, but these sound ideal.
