The Pixies would be sweet. I could also see The Beastie Boys taking that slot, they are big, but not big enough to headline.
There's a whole thread devoted to them, but I think Daft Punk would be great in this slot.
I think The Arcade Fire may fit better in The White Stripes slot. I think next year is definitely the time for them to come to Bonnaroo. And I think MMJ may be in a pre-headliner slot next year.
And this will probably not happen, but I think a Thom Yorke solo show would be amazing.
I was thinking of a Thom Yorke solo show, but more than likely Radiohead should be promoting their lp7. (or whatever the hell that is) Oooh.... A surprise late night set from Radiohead ("TBA"?) next year. I'm calling it!! ... in my dreams.

As I mentioned in the Atypical Performers thread, I think the Gorillaz would be a sweet late night show and it might be reasonable. Perhaps better off in a tent, though... I'm sure they could get the Which Stage groovin' on Saturday night though.

i thought i read somewhere (sorry no link) that Albarn said the Gorillaz were done. anyway would be cool in a tent.
i like a lot of the suggestions here...MMJ, Mars Volta, Pixies...etc
my vote is for Muse
and w/those bands you could possibly do 2 acts. start of with something like Muse and then have any of the others play after into the wee hours.

Let's see. Well, I think they'll use the Which stage for Friday and Saturday from now on as they did this year. It was a success.
Here are my suggestions for future Which Stage late nighters:
The Black Crowes The Allman Brothers Greyboy Allstars (more likely a tent act) moe. Bob Dylan Queen and Paul Rodgers My Morning Jacket The Pixies Massive Attack Sonic Youth Sigur Ros The Mars Volta The Arcade Fire Outkast White Stripes Muse Interpol Ween Beastie Boys
311 late night would be real sweet.. friday late night would be a party.. i went to 311 day in 04, letting them put on an extended show would be something to see
the black crowes have a new album coming out in spring of 2008. i wouldnt be surprised to see them with a late night slot at roo. maybe the crowes on friday and moe. on saturday. that would be enough to get me back to roo for sure regardless of who headlines.
also with roo changing the lineup the way it has id love to see black sabbath latenight at roo. and if they cant get ozzy ill take dio just fine. i was lucky enough to be walking to mule when the lips did the war pigs soundcheck and people went nuts. and mule encoring with sweet leaf and wa pigs was huge too. damn that was a fun night. well latenight anyhow im not a fan of much of ozzy's solo stuff but sabbath kicks ass!

John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
