They're taking on the outtake Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window for the soundtrack to the biopic I'm Not There. Jeff Tweedy of Wilco also is doing Simple Twist of Fate, and The Black Keys do The Wicked Messenger. Here's the full list:
All Along The Watchtower --Eddie Vedder & The Million Dollar Bashers As I Went Out One Morning--Mira Billotte Ballad Of A Thin Man--Stephen Malkmus & The Million Dollar Bashers Billy--Los Lobos Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window--The Hold Steady Can't Leave Her Behind--Stephen Malkmus & Lee Ranaldo Cold Irons Bound--Tom Verlaine & The Million Dollar Bashers Dark Eyes--Iron & Wine & Calexico Fourth Time Around--Yo La Tengo Goin' To Acapulco--Jim James & Calexico Highway 61 Revisited--Karen O & The Million Dollar Bashers I Wanna Be Your Lover--Yo La Tengo I'm Not There--Bob Dylan I'm Not There--Sonic Youth Just Like A Woman--Charlotte Gainsbourg & Calexico Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues--Ramblin' Jack Elliot Knockin' On Heaven's Door--Antony & The Johnsons The Lonesome Death Of Hattie Carroll--Mason Jennings Maggie's Farm--Stephen Malkmus & The Million Dollar Bashers Mama You've Been On My Mind--Jack Johnson The Man In The Long Black Coat--Mark Lanegan Moonshiner--Bob Forrest One More Cup Of Coffee--Roger McGuinn & Calexico Pressing On--John Doe Ring Them Bells--Sufjan Stevens Señor (Tales Of Yankee Power)--Willie Nelson & Calexico Simple Twist Of Fate--Jeff Tweedy Stuck Inside Of Mobile With Memphis Blues Again--Cat Power The Times They Are A Changin'--Mason Jennings Tombstone Blues--Richie Havens When The Ship Comes In--Marcus Carl Franklin Wicked Messenger--The Black Keys You Ain't Goin 'Nowhere--Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová
Personally, the only people on this list I think are worthy to cover Mr. Bob Dylan are: Eddie Vedder Sonic Youth Willie Nelson The Black Keys
The rest really don't deserve it, .... It's almost blasphemy
One More Cup of Coffee should have been given to The White Stripes... (that cover JAMS)
I will still buy it just for the four tracks I guess....
Oh, and the fact that Jack Johnson is on there REALLY pisses me off!
The fact that you don't think Sufjan Stevens, the Hold Steady, Cat Power, Iron & Wine, Yo La Tengo, Sonic Youth, Jeff Tweedy or Stephen Malkmus are "worthy" enough just shows how limited your appreciation of fine music is. I'm embarassed for you.

Let's also not forget about mister Jim James. If he's not worthy of covering Bob Dylan I dunno who is ;D I'm pretty stoked to hear his collaboration with Calexico (who's also worthy, IMO)!
Have a great MMJ show with a couple of neat 70's covers including "Oh What a Night". LOVED MMJ's cover of the Band's Makes No Difference as well as roo 2006's MMj set with The WHO's A Quick One from Tommy> Stones' Lovin' Cup>ATTiTUDE (punk cover-forget the artist). They are the kings of cover and are benefitting hugely by the retro embracement.
Love me some Jim James. Love me some Basement Tapes. So Goin' to Acapulco should be the tits !

jim is doing a solo show here in nyc NEXT sunday. still trying to decide on it....
How much and which venue are the obvious criteria.
I have a solo radio appearance by him where he does several "z" tunes accompanied by a cheezy casio beat. Pretty neat, and demonstrates his ability to go it alone for sure. Just so much more dynamic with the full band.
If it's intimate like the Mercury or Knitting Factory-I'd be all about it, there, BarklyRespecca !!

I just found this info on the band "The Million Dollar Bashers" who appears on the soundtrack multiple times:
Considering it has already been reported that Malkmus' sessions were recorded with Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo and Dylan bass player Tony Garnier, we figured these two were involved. Turns out we weren't far off the mark. Our source also revealed the band's membership which includes the aforementioned Ranaldo and Garnier, plus Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, Verlaine, keyboardist John Medeski (from Martin, Medeski and Wood), guitarist Smokey Hormel (onetime Beck guitarist, Smokey & Miho) and Wilco avante-guitarist Nels Cline.
