In the message pit someone posted Jeff Ament came to there school as a surprise guest speaker. Here something he said about shows next year. forums.pearljam.com/showthread.php?t=262001
"- Somebody asked him what’s next for the band and he said he didn’t really know. He said they’re on “hiatus,” but they have one show already booked for next year. He says eventually band members will start calling each other and get the itch to start working together again. He said Ed usually is the last one to come into the fold."
I don't know if they would have booked a headliner this early but my first thoughts go to the 'roo.
Correct me if I'm wrong, didnt PJ say they'd never play a "festival" show again after an incident?
They did not play any GA shows (including festivals) for a few years after 9 fans died at the Roskilde festival in 2000. However, they have since had GA at shows in Europe. They also played at some festivals in Europe and Lollapalooza in the past 2 years.

i watched the webcast of pearl jam closing out lolla this year, it was awesome, during the song daughter they went into another brick in the wall by pink floyd and started singing about george bush and the war and stuff and the lyrics got censored, at the end the did rocking in the free world, ben harper joined, ben and eddie are good friends, eddie also brought out like 50 people on the stage while they were playing, don't know who they were, so i think pearl jam would a perfect choice for bonnaroo 08

Too bad Petty already headlined, could you imagine, Neil Young, Petty, and Pearl Jam...Not very jam orientated, but i've seen petty quite a few times and pearl jam three times. And saw pearl jam and petty the summer before last at Summerfest. Freakin' amazzzzing. They could have all three of the bands on the stage at the same time. i get cold chills thinking about it...even though that will never happen... Just thinking about eddie, tom, and neil singin rockin' in the free word, american girl, and maybe handle with care, what an encore!!!!!ahh i love music and bonnaroo and all of you that really appreciate great tunes. this web site keeps me sane through the droughts of no festies. Hopefully Warren Haynes can scrath the itch tomorrow. SCRATCH that--I know he will!

sorry to crush dreams
one man's crushed dream is another's good news....
i mean, i like pearl jam allright, but i'm not an ultra fan like some of you. This leaves the door open for alot of other headliners... *cough cough not widespreadcough*... excuse me, i'm coming down with a cold

that's from last year...someone posted on bonnaroo's myspace that they're touring europe instead of bonnaroo...they posted this a few days ago...the link they had listed was from last year...they obviously missed the date on that...so i'm going with whoever said the bass player spoke at university of montana and leaked it...assuming that the one who posted that isn't messing with us...which is possible...but i believe him...but i would definitely like to see some more proof...either written or video...

this line came about from an article on billboard.com last year, written by jonathan cohen...it was the first written piece to mention the pearl jam at bonnaroo rumor, the same one that gained momentum last winter/spring...They toured Europe last June, and before that the previous fall

I'd love to see Pearl Jam at Bonnaroo next year. I've never seen them live, although I basically grew up with them for the past 10+ years, as did many of you. And you can give a decent argument on how they are a staple in alternative music. They were one of the first's. I have a friend who thinks that Neil Young ruined them, I'm not sure why he thinks that. Looking back on Pearl Jam's career, they have obviously matured and done nothing but gotten better. I loved watching their set from Lolla this past year, I wasn't there but watched it online, and I immediately thought that they would be a great headliner for Bonnaroo. And some of their friend's in the music business, are some of my favorites - Neil Young, Ben Harper, not sure who else they hang with, but I'm sure I'd like most of them. And Eddie wrote a great soundtrack for the movie Into the Wild. And everybody in PJ is extremely talented at what they do, so any of their members would be great solo or in the super jam. I'm not sure if they would headline Friday or Saturday, I'm thinking Friday, but then for Saturday you would need someone bigger. I'm not sure if Led Zeppelin will happen or not. Do you think Bruce Springsteen would headline Saturday? Maybe Radiohead? I'm not sure we would get PJ and Radiohead in the same year, both of them being alternative music, even though they are not that similar. It just seems like with the headliners for Bonnaroo you get, classic rock, alternative or mainstream, and a jamband. See I think if the Boss and Pearl Jam both headline, I'd much rather see the Boss on Friday and PJ on Saturday. But I guess it wouldn't really matter anyways. And if Led Zeppelin or Roger Waters played, I would rather see them on Sunday, closing the festival out, leaving you at your highest emotional level of the weekend. That would be a good way to end it.
