def my boy just made me a copy of Strawberry Jam and im diggin it. i could see them playing a night set but that pretty much guarentees a conflict for me...bc the late nights always have tough competition
I disagree, but I'm in the minority. It's just personal taste. I know a lot of people love their live show, but I think they're distant and way too into themselves.
A Panda Bear solo set, I would be down for though...

Yeah, I don't want to sound superior, but I worry many newer fans of the band are unaware of how different their live shows are from their albums. It's practically a different band. Personally I like their live sound and approach, but I know it can be quite a shock-- it was for me.
^^^Yeah. Part of it had to do with timing. If I understand correctly, Strawberry Jam is pretty much Avey Tare driven. And when I saw them, Panda Bear was doing his own thing somewhere else.
Strawberry Jam is probably my least favorite Animal Collective album. For me it was a significant step backwards from Feels. And when I listened to Person Pitch, it became even clearer why I didn't like the new Animal Collective album...Panda Bear's just not there in any real measure.
So yeah, they played pretty much every song off Strawberry Jam and a couple of standard tunes. Live it just sounded like a bad dj set. Avey kept muttering drug related phrases, and while some of the sonic textures they built were definitely impressive, it was hard for me to block out Avery chanting over and over about how high he was...

Well, I would agree with you there as well. I do like Strawberry Jam, but I'm still surprised by all the gushing praise people have heaped upon it. I think Feels is much better, and Sung Tongs also stronger. But I guess that's a bit beside the point. I still think a Bonnaroo stop on their current tour would work out pretty well, if the people attending were prepared for it.
I love me some Animal Collective but i agree with dudezer47 strawberry jam is def there weakest album to date and as for a late night spot i dont think its a good idea. save the late nights for the bumpin dance parties
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

I have to disagree with this one, their entire new album is a bumpin dance party.
