"For Led Zeppelin's return at the O2 arena this past December, Robert Plant decided he wanted to use a special audio system, one he had witnessed during a Metallica concert at Wembley Stadium earlier that summer. More specifically its called the Midas XL8 Live Performance System and Led Zeppelin hired Metallica's sound guy for the last two decades, Big Mick Hughes, as front of house for the O2 Arena reunion job. Coincidence one: The same sound guy that monitored the O2 gig, will be at Bonnaroo already."

very nice!! i'm not giving up!!
at this point i'd like for them to show up for the sole reason of giving the biggest I TOLD YOU SO to everyone who continuously gives me crap about thinking LZ will be there
Great find sufficientlyvague.. keeping the hope up is awesome. from a different thread - apparently Plant said this on CMT "everybody and his brother is preparing for a second coming. and i think we're ready for it!"

I don't mean to annoy anyone here who has already made the argument and conclusion that the band is not coming, but I keep finding little clues that point to the band making an appearance at 'Roo.
Earlier in this thread was the discussion about money and ‘Roo organizers not being able to afford the band. Here is an excerpt from an article that discusses the band's motivation.
"If they decided to go onwards there are so many different ways to reach an audience. Money is not the driver. Therefore, what would be important is creating an environment that worked both for band and audience. That would need a lot of creative thinking with the band's input being paramount."…Harvey Goldsmith, promoter of Led Zeppelin’s Dec. 10th reunion show (the Dec. 10th show was for charity)
Also if you go to Harvey Goldsmith's blog, you can see, as a promoter, he is actively seeking ways to prevent ticket touting. Keeping the band's appearance at Roo a secret is one way to prevent touters.

I still hold the hope that Zep shows up, I mean they do not have a "classic" artist this year other than BB, Willie, and Levon (even they have released new material though). I think it is happening and I do not feel sorry for the people that miss out on tickets.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

at bonnaroo you NEVER know what is around the corner.. and on (1/28/08) after being asked at a New York basketball game if Led Zeppelin will tour, Plant cryptically replied, "You never know what is around the corner."

i saw the plant basketball interview and the dvd thing is a great idea, i never thought about that.......id have a breakdown if zep showed up to roo.....maybe a comunication breakdown?
Nice job sufficientlyvague. Also the commemorative DVD also got me thinking. They haven't released one in a couple of years.
My money is on them playing the superjam. If they released that Led Zeppelin was playing ahead of time, there would still be people selling tickets and whatnot. My guess is if they're going to be there, its going to be a surprise up until they walk out on stage.
Someone else had said this as well, but I will continue to believe that Led Zeppelin will be there until I'm on the drive home.

Did anyone else see the very end of the Plant/Krauss concert on CMT (on a couple of nights ago) where Plant says "Everyone is looking for the second coming....and you know..." He bangs his hand on the table "I think we're ready!"

I'll repost this in the zep thread where it may belong.
Last year The police grossed $3.2 million per show. Metallica grosses $2.5 million Last year Tool grossed $2.8 million per show. Pearl Jam grosses a mere $1.2 million per show.
that leaves 2.3 million dollars of budgeted headliners. Not to include the money that will be made by this year's dvd sales..
Bonnaroo grossed 17 million last year compared to the 14.7 million in 2006.. Becoming the the highest grossing festival in the world.. As the highest grossing festival in the world.. any reason you are budgeting your headliners? Found these numbers on a myspace blog.
Also.. add in Led Zeppelin to the lineup.. and it pushes Jack Johnson into the white stripes spot.. exactly when his website claims he'll play.

Zep won't play sunday (assuming they play at all).
First, they would be, without a doubt, the biggest act on the bill. That means Saturday. Second, many people leave before/during the sunday headliner to get home for work the next day. Putting Zep on sunday night would be a waste, and piss off a lot of people. Just because the biggest band in the world is playing on sunday doesn't mean everyone can blow off work, convince the baby-sitter to stick around an extra day, etc.
If anything, I see Metallica going to thursday headliner, Pearl Jam friday, Zep on saturday, and Kanye (pre-headliner) and Jack Johnson (headliner) on sunday.

Sounds to me like Plant was just trying to regain control of the interview (probably after being hammered with questions about Zep). You know, like, "yeah, Zeppelin was great, but I'm on this new project, so can we talk about that instead?"

Also if you are a fan of Robert Plant.. are you going to pay to see him play cover songs and country songs with alison krauss months before a ZEPPELIN reunion?.. no. He has to sell tickets still.. I think it's really strange that every plant show is separated by a few days besides the last one.. Bonnaroo. And it's 23 days after the previous show. Bonnaroo books Plant and Krauss.. so the Plant fans still show up with the regular bonnarooers who will stay for the rest of the weekend to make superfly more money. It just doesn't all add up.. the current headliners.. the touring schedule.. LEZ ZEPPELIN being so high up on the press release.. the reports from NUMEROUS sources that zep would play bonnaroo prior to the convenient screw up. If Zep announces a world tour with bonnaroo.. it will be in may.
Also should there be any ahem "violence" or crowd control needed (woodstock burning down repeated) from a first responder's perspective I would have to say that would be best resolved in DAYLIGHT not the cover of night so I say Kayne will be a day light hour show not late night any thoughts ???

Kayne will be a day light hour show not late night any thoughts ???
no way this will happen. my reasons:
- kanye's ego would not allow roo to put him so early in the day - if you saw or have heard about his shows, they are glow-in-the-dark(self-explanatory) - he is too high up on the bill to be slotted in a daytime spot
Well I don't really know much about kayne and the high up on the bill etc but if there is a propensity of violence associated by rap music bling bling and *itches etc then yeah it'll be early night if anything the promoters gotta guide the mood by the lineup and that would be hard to do at night with emergency response etc having to clean the mess up at night. My two cents and change Trip
