I still say we won't know till Zep announces a tour, so until that happens, I still believe
Me too. Except I also say that will be in August.
I don,t think they will announce a tour before roo. I do believe if they are playing roo superfly will drop that bomb when they think the times right. I do think most clues point to zep playing. it just makes perfect sense for numerous reasons.

Why do we have to see the same unfounded theories over and over again? As long as people keep pushing fantasy, I see nothing wrong with pushing fact.
what's unfounded about metallica denying they were playing Roo? just google "metallica denies bonnaroo". you'll get multiple articles, one of them written about 2 months before the lineup actually came out.
That just tells me that the deal was struck sometime in those 2 months. There's no reason to believe they were lying when they said they weren't playing... perhaps they were still in negotiations? Remember that little quote someone said earlier about bands not liking to book more than 3 months in advance?

There will be no tv spots by the way.. same amount of tickets are being sold.. why would they advertise bonnaroo for led zeppelin? Led Zeppelin IS bonnaroo's advertisment.
Sponsor advertisements. Budweiser and AT&T don't send Superfly money out of the goodness of their hearts... they do it so that they can plaster their name on everything related to Bonnaroo. It's all about visibility and name recognition, and if Zeppelin is playing Bonnaroo, you can damn well be sure that Budweiser wants you to remember that they made it possible. Nothing would make the execs happier than to hear everyone refer to Bonnaroo as "that AT&T Zeppelin reunion last summer".

im amazed this rumor has endured despite the lineup and no additions around time of ticket sales.
Given that the presentation of 'buzzkill' facts is shunned here, I'm not.
Consider this: you're a casual concert-goer, and you've heard the rumor that Zeppelin may be playing somewhere in the US this summer. You're not exactly sure about the details or whether the rumor is true or not, so you decide to do some research. You do a Google, and run across this board, specifically, this thread. Looking for facts, you instead find pages of post from 'informed' people, all speaking as if this were a done deal. There is no discussion of the facts, no examination of relevant news articles, no counterpoints or opposing arguments. In fact, anyone who tries to be a 'buzzkill' is insulted, discredited, and run out of town. Convinced, you run off to buy your tickets and make your travel plans.
So who's the buzzkill if/when Zeppelin doesn't play?

Thankfully Bonnaroo & co. is better than that in keeping sponsors in check. While you do see some sponsor stuff, it only takes a visit to Lollapalooza to see how bad it could get.

i confess that spooky makes a good point about people mistakening thinking zeppelin is in fact playing. i bumped into a guy the other night at the bar that was all excited about going to bonnaroo for the first time because 'fucking zeppelin's gonna be there maaan'...i almost didnt have the heart to tell him.

here's the thing...those of us hoping and searching for little tidbits here and there in hopes that LZ actually show up, aren't CONVINCED they'll be there. we're not going because LZ will be there. we're going for BONNAROO, and for the music in hopes LZ might be there.
in the end, no one loses because bonnaroo is about more than one band. so while we all understand everyone's POV on why LZ won't be there, there's really no need to kill our buzz

just supporting the cause. i don't mind admitting i was wrong about LZ if that's the case because i'll still be at bonnaroo. but if they DO show up, there are a lot of people who will be getting pictures of LZ rockin' the stage with the caption "i told you so" ;D

hell yeah! we will see. i do expect something good!

For as long as I can remember.. I've been jealous of my dad being able to see Zeppelin live in 79.. And when I hear the HUGE rumor of Zep playing the festival i've been attending for years.. I think it's meant to be.. all I can have is hope and rumors.. please don't kill our optimism.. I won't say "I told you so".. i'll just enjoy it.. very much.

>sigh< How hard is it to understand that I'm not doing it to be a buzzkill?
Believe what you want to believe about Zeppelin playing Bonnaroo. It makes no nevermind to me. If this was a private discussion, trust me, I'd hold my tongue easily enough. But it's not. It's a public forum with a potentially global audience. Sitting around in a room pulling a daisy chain with your friends is one thing. Posting in an open discussion forum on what is arguably the definitive source for Bonnaroo fans is another. I think that's the point most of you are failing to grasp.
And is this not the Zeppelin "RUMOR" thread?? So if someone comes in here looking for FACT, then that's their problem. But keep saving the world from vicious rumors, man. Someone needs to do it.
Hey everyone, first time roo'er here. I am looking forward to the experience and all of the bands that I know for sure will be there. IM tickled elmo with excitement. I decided sometime in the fall that'd i be there. Then all of the Led rumors started popping up. Needless to say, I was intrigued, but I have this feeling they wont be there. I WANT them to be here, I HOPE they're there, but I just doubt it. If Superfly manages to pull off the greatest event in music festival history, then I will be ecstatic. As is, im not sitting here with my head in my hands in tears over the fact that Led won't be there. At least Robert will be there. Cool enough as is (is it just me or is he 1000 times more badass with the beard?)

I don't get the "I got mine" comment. This is a speculation thread. Who is taunting who??
Thread title is "RUMORS." I didn't see anyone claim they had proof they are coming. Simply lots and lots and lots of clues.
Just stop acting like that kid with the orange safety belt on. Let people be dreamers. I haven't seen anyone say they were basing their decision to go on this Zeppelin rumor.
Oh, and some more speculation for the spookmeister...
Millennium Stadium in talks with Zeppelin
Feb 17 2008 by James McCarthy, Wales On Sunday
MILLENNIUM Stadium bosses are making an audacious bid to bring rock gods Led Zeppelin to Wales.
They are in talks with promoter Harvey Goldsmith amid rumours that the supergroup are planning a world tour in October.
The internet has been hot with gossip about further gigs for the band since they reformed for their O2 Arena gig in December.
Now the WRU want Cardiff to echo with the strains of Stairway to Heaven instead of Bread of Heaven.
And with no Communication Breakdown with the band so far, things are looking good.
WRU spokesman John Williams said: “They are represented by Harvey Goldsmith, who is bringing Bruce Springsteen to the stadium.
“We are talking to Harvey about what else he could possibly bring and Led Zeppelin has come up in conversation.
“There is no deal but we are asking and he is listening. We are at an early stage.”
Possible dates have not been discussed with the group, who have long been associated with Wales, recording much of their third album at the remote Bron-Yr-Aur cottage near Aberystwyth.
Mr Williams added: “It’d be great, I think everyone’s a fan.”
WRU chief executive Roger Lewis, the former worldwide president of Decca records, has already said he would love to bring Zepp to the capital.
He told Wales on Sunday the WRU could “guarantee a perfect event for 70,000 people”.
An online petition, begging the band to tour the globe again, had yesterday been signed by 11,751 fans.

you're right...it is a public forum. which is why we're all on a thread called the RUMOR thread. because we all believe this RUMOR could possibly be true.
and telling someone,"hey, if you come to a RUMOR thread, and take it as fact, that's your fault" isn't republican in the slightest, unless of course you're implying that only republicans use common sense.
no one has even come close to implying that any of this is true, and i'm giving our fellow bonnaroo brethren the benefit of the doubt they understand the difference between TRUTH and RUMOR.
and you've made your point known. you truly believe they won't be there, and are convinced of this fact. that's cool for you, and you might be right.
however, this is the led zeppelin rumor thread, where people who DO believe there is a CHANCE led zeppelin could perform want to get together and talk about it. its just as easy to ignore it, and not post.
