HEY GUYS....ALL THIS ZEPPELIN STUFF WAS MAKING MY BRAIN HURT ( I.E ONE OF THE GREATEST ROCK BANDS EVER HEADLINING MY FAVORITE MUSIC FESTIVAL OR I SHOULD SAY THE BEST FESTIVAL EVER MADE BY MORTAL MAN RIGHT IN MY BACK YARD ;D). I WORK AT A RADIO STATION IN EAST TENN ( NOT TELLING WICH ONE FOR LEGAL REASONS...DAMN AMERICANS...JK...) AND NOBODY KNOWS NUTHIN HERE NOT EVEN THE BIGWIGS.....UNLESS THERE REALLY STONEWALLING ME......COULD HAPPEN I GUESS.... BUT I HAVE A REALLY GOOD FRIEND THAT WORKS FOR A BIG COMPANY THAT DOES THE PROMOTIONAL WORK FOR ROO AND FINALLY I GOT SOME GOOD DIRT....HE TOLD ME THAT AS SOON AS THOSE METALLICA / ZEPPELIN RUMORS STARTED A FEW WEEKS AGO HE ASKED HIS BOSS AND THIS IS WHAT HE SAID: " METALLICA IS DEF NOT PLAYING ROO ( I KNOW WE ALL KNOW THIS BUT BARE WITH ME FOR DRAMATIC EFFECT) AS FOR LED ZEP WELL HE SAID ITS PRETTY BIG TIME DEAL ABOUT THE HEADLINERS BEING RELEASED TO EARLY BUT LETS JUST SAY SOMETIMES THE BANDS ANNOUNCE BEFORE SUPERFLY" SO THATS ALL HE'D TELL ME... HE SAID HE HAD TO DOUBT LED ZEPPELIN WOULD BE THERE BY THE WAY HIS BOSS ACTED WHEN HE ASKED HIM AND THE WHOLE " HOW TO APPROACH THE TICKET THING" WAS THE BIG ISSUE.... READ INTO THIS AS MUCH AS YOUD LIKE BUT ID SAY WE HAVE A PRETTY GOOD CHANCE AND BE READY TO BUT YOUR TICKET AS SOON AS THEY GO ON SELL JUST TO BE SURE............ILL POST MORE AS SOON AS I KIND FIND MORE OUT!!!! AND CANT WAIT TO SEE EVERYBODY AT ROO FOR ANOTHER GREAT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please, caps lock=off for next post. But please keep us updated - thanks!
Ya, bring WSP... That way, we can keep the tradition and leave before they play.... If ya don't dig WS, use them as the perfect time to leave the Roo.... (waaay less traffic)
So I was looking around at what the ticket brokers are selling tickets for right now...and it is 880+. I know that they sell high, but not that high right? Maybe they know something we don't or maybe they are trying to play on the rumors and get people to pay extra before the lineup is announced. Thoughts?
Looks like people are trying to sell tickets based on rumors...$395 on ebay and their teasing metallica and LZ. But..this is ebay and people by grill cheeses and potato chips for hundreds..so why not
I don't understand how people expect to sell tickets before they go on sale, much less for way more than the ticket prices will be when they go on sale

well...not that I condone scalping..but if there was a substantial rumor..or even confirmation that LZ was headlining, I don't see it too far from realistic for someone to pay for a guaranteed ticket before they go on sale, especially if they have the money and don't have the time or paitience to wait.
All goes back to, IF LZ headlines, what will ticket availability versus demand be?
And karma for the Jesus Beer Pong Image...he would be sooo tough to beat.

This kind of stuff really burns me up as it makes people wary of other honest, reputable ticket sellers. There should be federal legislation addressing scalping.

I don't know what the laws are, but I know that each state has rules regarding the reselling of tickets for more than face value.....but its a joke
If you go on craigslist or ebay or wherever, no one enforces the existing laws...or someone just sells a hat for $400 and with it the buyer gets two "free" tickets to a show.
Our legal system is just one notch above our tax system which is one notch above our healthcare system.
So true. Last year, there were scalpers on craigslist putting ACL tix up for way more than face value. My friend posted that people didn't have to resort to scalpers because tix were still available through C3. Those scalping jerks actually complained to craiglist about her ad, so they took it down. But she put it right back up each and every time! Now THAT deserves karma.

Isn't 800+ alot more than scalpers were asking for in previous years? and if so, do you think it has anything to do with the zep rumors?
probably.
Let me throw this out there
Scenario:
If LZ headlines, standard 3 tiers for tickets and this is the first show of an 18 month LZ tour that is announced at the same time 'roo is...how long before they sellout

I doubt that tour scenario will happen, but even if it did, I wouldn't think it would sell out that fast. Assuming tickets go on sale end of February, I'd say sold-out by early May-ish?
Realistically, Bonnaroo would be just one more stop on the world tour, just like it was for The Police.

roo tickets were so much cheaper than some of the tickets that the police were selling, people thought that roo would get overcrowded with the older folks and sellout fast because of this, but nothing ever happened. however, yea, zeppelin is at a whole different league than the police so who knows. but i am wiling to bet my roo ticket that zeppelin won't play unless there is an entire tour, it just doesn't seem logical to play a festival as your only show in the US since '77.

Thanks Steve - Strum - Becca ... you guys rock
and becca, heres some karma to balance out the smite because of the Foo comment
I'm a big Foo and RHCP fan...I've seen RHCP a few times including woodstock '99 ... I can tell you that a RHCP concerts and probably a Foo show (never been) has a totally different feel than 'roo.

Any guesses? i'm gonna say 1 month.
I'll say a day and here's why (stay with me now):
In September (or maybe October) the NHL announced an outdoor New Year's Day hockey game in Buffalo between Buffalo and Pittsburgh. The venue seated about 72K and tix were priced between $60 and $350 (majority of tix at $203). Tix sold out inside of 20 minutes.
I know, I know. This is music, not hockey but I also posit that a) Roo is a national draw with years of tradition while the game had a regional draw of hockey fans within 220 miles of Buffalo, b) Roo has a better, more effective net presence and at least an arguably more enthusiastic fan base and c) the hockey game was nationally televised while the Roo experience not only will not be but could never possibly be.
Anyways, it's my two cents but I suspect that if Zeppelin are announced as a headliner when tix go on sale that the festival will sell out on day one. I may be wrong and there is plenty of room to poke holes in my theory that a first-tier music festival will outsell what can be considered a fifth-tier sporting event of similar size though slightly varriant pricing but I'd rather be wrong with tickets than right and left out in the cold.
