Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Is anyone else sick of reading 9 million threads about who should or should not re-unite for Bonnaroo?
There is no re-union requirement....and in fact....contrary to what a lot of you seem to think....NO ONE has ever re-united specifically for or at the request of Bonnaroo. The Police were touring the country, and picked up Bonnaroo as "the Tennessee gig"....that's it...Superfly didn't "pull it off" as I keep reading...it was already happening...they paid whatever it cost, and bam...The Police are at Bonnaroo.
This year, if the Zeppelin thing goes down, once again...it will be a tour, and Bonnaroo will be one date on that tour....Bonnaroo is not MAKING them re-unite.
That said....can we stop pretending that Phish, Pink Floyd, The Talking Heads, The Beatles and whoever else you can come up with are sitting around going...you know I think we called it quits too early....we never played Bonnaroo....someone get Superfly on the phone!
And...the negative karma rains down yet again....oh well, I value honesty more that meaningless popularity points anyway....

The Warlocks are Opening for Phish this year man, Didnt you hear???
The Headliners that were not re-union shows are as follows (correct me if i'm wrong);
Tool Widespread Panic x4 String Cheese Incident (02' Headliner) Radiohead Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Dave Matthews Band Dave Matthews and Friends Trey Anastasio Bob Dylan
Then you have the Re-union(s)
The Dead Neil Young & Crazy Horse (?) The Police Phil Lesh and Friends (x2, one where he played w/ Bobby. I could consider this in either category, IMO.)
Could Have been Headliners;
White Stripes Bob Weir and Ratdog (x2) Beck (was he co-headline?) Oysterhead Allman Brothers (x2) David Byrne Primus Steve Winwood
I'm just trying to remind everyone how Superfly and AC come through every year with great talent across the board. 07' was my first Bonnaroo, and it amazed me that missed out in 2006 (on paper looks like the best lineup for Roo' IMO). I'm uber amped to see the lineup for 2008. I'm getting all this information right off the website. Any help would be thanked.
IMO. I think we will definitly get either Daft Punk or another STS9. Thats as far as I will go on that.

I don't know, buscrash, maybe it's just a sign of the times that no one can think of anything that they'd rather see than a reunion... Maybe there's nothing out there worth seeing... Or maybe people want and expect the best from Bonnaroo and feel like if anything (or anyone) can pull off a huge reunion it's a huge festival like the Roo... Though I do agree with a lot of the points you made, especially the Phish, Floyd, and Talking Heads point
I think the Police are the only real major reunion headliners Bonnaroo grabbed first. Outside of that, most of the cool stuff at Bonnaroo has to do with these five things, imo:
1) Longer sets 2) Late night sets 3) Special guest spots and musical cross pollination 4) For a festival of 80,000-90,000 it feels far less crowded than smaller festivals I've been to. 5) Beer tent er...I mean the people
There's a lot of talk about Zeppelin this year, but last year, a large portion of the pre-festival hype actually centered around Pearl Jam, Arcade Fire, MMJ and Mars Volta, not The Police. And you always get people who pine for Talking Heads.
I think the trend is reunion trend is larger than just Bonnaroo though. A lot of bands out there are looking at what The Police accomplished and are taking note at the money out there if they get their nuts together and play again.
I hear you though. Truth be told, my three dream headliners would be Radiohead, Neil Young and Prince.

NO ONE has ever re-united specifically for or at the request of Bonnaroo.
1) The Word 2) Oysterhead 3) calm the hell down, people are entitled to their opinions and tastes
Okay, I was going to say 1 & 2 but steve beat me to it.
I will add that I have been active on the Krewe board and a few subsequent ones and every year some people have Phish, the Talking Heads, Zeppelin, Floyd, etc. on them. (Ironically, I don't remember much of a clamour for the Police.)
I think that it's more a reflection that we don't have a lot of megastars anymore, at least not ones that know how to play their instruments, than a belief that artists feel that they are missing out from not playing Roo.
The Zeppelin rumours are probably so strong because so few of us ever had an opportunity to see them and this looks like the best shot at it. (In fact, I'd imagine that a sizable percentage of this board wasn't even born before they called it quits.) Personally, I'd like to see Zeppelin but I'll be there regardless of the headliners because I just enjoy the experience and there is always something that I want to see or do.
I'll tell you what I am sick of, though: that damn link to the Mirror article popping up on every thread like it's breaking news!!!!

the only "reunion" i want to see under any circumstances is four men named Crosby Stills Nash & Young. zeppelin may ruin my bonnaroo, i have "how the west was won" im good with live led zeppelin.

can we also make the point that no matter what no band is really broken up anymore so many bands that have deceased/departed members are playing shows huge bands see the money and others see the opportunity to stay away from getting a job the is something other than having fun. personally anyone that feels like playing bring it on i've seen some amazing to really horrible shows with original line-ups and make shift line-ups. i just wanna dance man!!!!
