After Velvet Revolver wraps a spring tour in support of its second album, "Libertad," frontman Scott Weiland will rejoin his former bandmates in Stone Temple Pilots for a handful of summer reunion shows, guitarist Slash tells Billboard.com.
When I posted this in the big rumors thread it seemed like a wildcard. Then Scott Weiland said look out for a reunion. If you reunite STP, and you're only playing a "handful" of shows, you're doing a big festival.

more i think about this the more i get excited. scott has such an amazing stage presense and ive been lucky enough to see STP more than once.... it would rock
STP was great back in the day...like 1996. I don't see the appeal of a reunion. Saw them once in '99 at X-Fest in Indianapolis and wasn't that impressed (to be fair, Weiland was pretty obviously fucked up and off that night). Green Day played before them and put them to shame. It could be fun, but personally I wouldn't be very excited about it. I think part of it is I'm getting annoyed with all these 90's bands reuniting. I appear to be in the minority.

Seen STP a few times, the last w/RHCP was the worst of 'em. Wouldn't mind seeing an STP reunion at Roo, but if they really want to make a splash, how about getting Slash & Duff back together with Axl for a GnR reunion at Roo. Now we're talkin!
I think STP at a huge festival could be wild. I've seen them twice in arenas and once at a small venue (Hard Rock Live Orlando). They're show at HRL was probably one of the best shows I've been to. They come out strong, slow things down for an acoustic mini-set, and close big, it's a hell of a night. Scott wants to hear 50k sing "then she tells me I'm a creep"

It's perfect timing for an STP reunion. It's a shame you saw Weiland fucked up, he's probably my favorite front man in concert. He's been singing 3-4 STP songs a night the past few years with Velvet Revolver. They just toured with Alice In Chains, he probably saw the fun Jerry Cantrell is having playing these songs and has the itch to give people a full night of STP. VR's last album tanked, don't forget that lol.
In a strange way I think an STP also benefits from nu-metal being dead. Less competition for the concert dollar.
