Here me out. I personally was very surprised when Superfly tapped Radiohead a couple of years ago. I was very glad they did, but it showed a new direction of sorts. Add Tom Petty to that and that was an impressive headlining list. I think they topped that last year by getting the Police and bringing Tool into the mix. Two very big, unique acts.
Can they top that this year? What would top it other than Zeppelin?

Other than Zep, or a reunion act that doesn't yet exist, I'd say for Superfly to top themselves it would be not with the headliners but with the supporting acts. I don't specifically have anyone in mind, but based on some of the leaks I'd say they are headed in the right direction.

I agree! Even though Tool played my favorite set of last year, I think another thing that made last year so great was the beefy list of supporting acts. The White Stripes, Wolfmother, and The Flaming Lips were enough to bring the house down by themselves. The way its looking so far, they'll be fine this year. The Mars Volta, Willie Nelson, BB King and My Morning Jacket (hopefully all of those do pan out to be true) will be great supporting acts to supplement whatever headliners we do end up with.
well also, quality of the lineup can be dependent on personal tastes. there's still people out there who aren't happy about tool playing last year. i thought it was brilliant, but thats just my 2 cents.
As much as I always love the second and third tier acts, I think it depends on the headliners this year for me. I don't know how many more road trips I have in me at 35. And it will be the headliners that convinces my wife to leave our kids for 4 days with her mother.

I'm sure they'd LIKE to, but can they? There just don't seem to be any reasonably potential headliners this year that could top last year. So I think they'll get some great one, and try to outdo themselves in the lower levels of the fest. It's all they can do.
well if they get Zeppelin this year... we can have this exact same thread next year.... because where do you go from there? nowhere but down, i suppose...

Lets say they get LZ and PJ....or just say they get one of the most amazing lineups this year.....what about next year...if they just go all out what about the years after.....i say 2012...they pull some amazing things out of nowhere............

i wouldn't mind Van Halen so much... but i don't really wanna see a band like The Eagles who can't stand the sight of each other's faces...
My best friends father runs the Hampton Coliseum(the phish mothership)... and when The Eagles played here, each individual band member had their own limosine... they rolled in right before the show, went on stage and left seperately right afterwards...

some believe its the end of the world...some religions think its just gonna be an event that changes the world and the way we think and live......if youve seen any other boards mentioning phish...in 2012 phish will get back together and put together either an amazing album or put on an amazing, show/shows that will simply change the way we live and better the world......IMO...hopefully PEACE

^ The tent acts were where it was at, last year. I went to very few stage acts.

08 will be my first roo....and im kicking myself in the @$$ for missing nightwatchman, widespread, whitestripes, tool...altho i only missed aenima and tom morrello, but thats a big miss....but none the less 04 does look like one of the best....but 06 oysterhead....idk peace

no matter what the lineup, youre gonna have a blast. this year will be my 3rd roo and im looking forward to this one more than the last 2 years.

The way I see it... the headliners are 3 shows... roughly 6 hours, maybe more pending who they are. I sincerely hope that nobody would decide against making a road trip to the Roo just because of these 6 hours out of the entire weekend of music. For me, it's all about the supporting lineup. I'd much rather see a lineup with acts such as Bisco, MMJ, Shpongle, The Mars Volta, Flaming Lips, and STS9 among many others that are huge amongst the crowd of Bonnaroo-goers, however lack the overall popularity to be listed as a headliner.
I'm still going on a hunch that Roo 2008 will be one of the best ever. I have a feeling that they're truly going to be pulling out something BIG this year.
All I can say is that I really want to go, but I am letting the lineup decide it for me this year. Otherwise, there are plenty of shows coming through the Philly area this summer.
