Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
assuming pearl jam is comfirmed, who has a realistic shot at being another headliner. I feel being this close to the artist announcement there should be a pretty good idea regarding who else would play, but it seems like every logical possibility would have touring conflicts, or wouldn't fit. its like xmas
I'm not sure I see Plant and Krauss taking a whole major headline spot by themselves. Seem to me that they're more geared for a late afternoon/early evening show.
However, knock out the middle and put in Dave & Friends and you've got yourself a weekend!
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
I guess Metallica is a real possibility, but I HOPE NOT!

Yeah, like...are we seriously looking at the possibility of Metallica headlining Bonnaroo? I know their schedule is open, but that just seems insane. Please, someone tell me it's not true. Please.

If Pearl Jam is there then I would say Young is there. The members of PJ are huge fans of Niel and that is why they play one of his songs at the end of every concert.
and with the Dead getting together in SF to play I think that might mean the red herring clue be referring to them. or the Allman Brothers

I know for a fact this was released from Billboard like 2 months ago. I am not sure if things have changed though.
From Billboard: "After a rumor that Led Zeppelin and Metallica would headline the 2008 Bonnaroo festival caused an Internet frenzy in the past 48 hours, the event's promoters have spoken out to quash the reports.
'The rumors that are out there about the Bonnaroo 2008 headliners are inaccurate,' Superfly Presents and AC Entertainment said in a statement released to Billboard.com. 'We're very excited about the lineup that we're putting together for this year's festival. We'll be announcing the confirmed lineup toward the end of January/beginning of February.'
The source of the Zeppelin/Metallica rumor was an anonymous email included last week in industry commentator Bob Lefsetz's newsletter.
Led Zeppelin will play its only planned show Dec. 10 in London as part of a tribute to late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun."
Since you brought up that old article, Metallica's management actually came out and said Metallica was NOT playing Bonnaroo. Of course the Zeppelin camp said nothing about it whatsoever. I even remember that Bob Lefsetz guy swearing by his info. Again, who knows.

I can sum up what happened here:
Someone (who had to be left anonymous) sent Bob Lefsetz an e-mail which stated that Metallica and Led Zeppelin were headlining Bonnaroo. Lefsetz is a music industry insider, with a newsletter and a blog (the Lefsetz letter, where this information first broke). Well, within a few hours, every media outlet in the world was buzzing about it. Bonnaroo came out and said that the rumor was "inaccurate." Not long after, Metallica's people said that Metallica was not playing Bonnaroo. In order to downplay the whole thing, someone from AC/Superfly (I'm not sure who) asked Lefsetz to correct the information on his blog. Lefsetz refused, asking for a written letter confirming that Led Zeppelin would not be at Bonnaroo before he would take his post down. Lefsetz got no such letter.
We all thought "innaccurate" meant Zeppelin was playing, and Metallica wasn't. However, we have recently seen information showing the complete opposite. The Jimmy Page press conference, as well the length of the Plant Krauss tour left major doubts about Zeppelin. Meanwhile, several "friend's of a friend" (one of mine included) have reported Metallica will be there; in addition to the recent "Clouds Taste This Way" clue, and the fact Metallica will announcing US tour dates next week, and there's a big gap in there schedule in June.
That being said, I don't put it out of the realm of possibility that it is PJ and Metallica . . . and Led Zeppelin.
Really, because I've been praying for such an event since I was a young lad.

You and me both. I was just talking to a good friend of mine about this. If Bonnaroo lands Zepp, Pearl Jam and Mettallica, I would consider that one of the greatest headliners of a fest this side of the original Woodstock. Superfly will be GODS in my book if that is the 123 punch.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this trio would be mind-blowing

I saw Metallica at woodstock 99... i wasn't exactly overwhelmed by them...I think it started raining during their set...but thats all I really remember...I remember RATM and Bush's sets were solid.
I am a fan of Metallica when it comes to album material. I have seen Metallica live, and boy does it leave something left to be desired. I am just afraid that it would just be a payday for Metallica and they would just go through the steps. If they are going to get a "metal" band, get one that is actually a good performer.
Close your eyes. Picture a convict. What's he wearing? Nothing special, baseball cap on backwards, baggy pants... he says something ordinary like... 'yo, thats shizzle.' Okay. Now slowly open your eyes again. Who are you picturing? A black man? Wrong. That was a white woman. Surprised? Well, shame on you.
Just a disclaimer for whoever smited me earlier. I do like Metallica and enjoy what they have brought to the musical world. It is just an opinion of mine that they are not the best live act. So for the smiter I am sorry for having an opinion.

I saw on wikipedia that the Flaming Lips named their album "Clouds Taste Metallic" from something Tool drummer Danny Carey said on an airplane or something. Take it for what you will.
Although Neil's been playing small venues, the show he's doing I think would really translate well to the larger stage. A solo acoustic set filled with some well known songs and some old gems followed by a crazy, rollicking, jamming electric set geared more toward new stuff and obscure old stuff. I think it would fit Bonnaroo very well.
Hey, Jude, don't be afraid. You were made to go out and get her. The minute you let her under your skin, Then you begin to make it better.
And any time you feel the pain, Hey Jude, refrain. Don't carry the world upon your shoulders. Well don't you know that it's a fool who plays it cool By making his world a little colder.

the only good thing about a possible Metallica headline is that I will not feel bad about missing it in order to get a good spot for the late night show. Im all for diversifying the Roo, but seriously? Metallica? I just dont get it.
