Actually... Robert Plant, JPJ, Jimmy Page and Bonham's son (name escapes me at the moment...) will be playing under a name other than Led Zeppelin. This means that Superfly did not lie when saying Zeppelin won't be there, as they'll be booked under a different name.
Looking forward t Zep, but aint countin on it. you already have your three headliners listed right in the line up
Fri - Metallica Sat - PJ Sun - Phil and friends (and anyone who thinks Phil wont headline Sunday night is off thier rocker. Sunday night at festivals are reserved for former Dead members!)
On a side note, I would LOVE to see DSO headline thursday night.....

maybe its already been said, but why would zeppelin play if they have lez already playing? zeppelin's great and all but why would you have the original band and a cover band? either way, im still hopeful..haha.

I am hopeful because I think Lez Zeppelin is on the initial lineup to distract people and convince them that the rumors were just a play off of that. I also think that having Metallica there shows that whatever source outed the original Metallica/Zeppelin rumor had some substance and may know something that we don't

first of all, there is no way that many credible news sources mistakes LEZ for LED. especially when they aren't even listed until you get to the bottom of the lineup. that is TOO BIG of a mistake to make.
also, there is no way ticket prices would go up for a lineup like that. yes, i realize ticket prices go up sometimes, but there is no way they'd do it THIS YEAR for a lineup that they MUST know a lot of people would be on the fence about.
whether LZ is headlining or simply putting on the superjam of the century, i'm getting vibes something huge is going down. i'd planned to be there LZ or not, so either way, i win.

Who is on the fence? Cranky old-school heads who every year expect Bonnaroo to revert to the days of afternoon sets by the Big Wu and Drums & Tuba are probably on the fence, but from a broader musical standpoint, this is easily Bonnaroo's best and most diverse lineup ever. They've got major names from every major genre of music (more or less). I think the jump in ticket prices is justified - Kanye, Pearl Jam and Metallica alone would justify it.
I like the LZ playing under a different name theory.. only way they could have zep really. If they drop zep then the tickets are gone in a day and on ebay for 1k++.
they need to hurry up and kill all the links pointing to zep, or i guarantee you people will be trying to flip tix. zep is a big f%king deal.... like really big
let's say that superfly has zeppelin for a headliner. they would have to keep it a secret until after the tickets went on sale. otherwise, a lot of long time bonnarooers wouldn't get a chance to go. jmkm is right. led zeppelin is a big f&cking deal. i think kanye and jack johnson are great coverups for that final headlining spot. both COULD headline roo but it's not likely.
on the other hand...maybe they're not coming, but i assure you there will be some zeppelin-like $hit going on at bonnaroo that you won't want to miss, with plant being there and all.
all i know is...ill be at bonnaroo this year and ill be buying my ticket as early as possible just in case LZ pops up on the lineup.

papernapkin - FREAKING KARMA for the page grab. Last night i was sitting there staring at the NME site at like 10 after midnight thinking "i dont wanna close this window bc i KNOW i'll be the only one who saw it, and people will think im crazy when they take it down..."

doesn't having metallica prove they just aren't all that concerned with the long time roo vets? it seems pretty clear that capps and superfly have no interest in WHO comes, as long as their money is green. and i know thats the point of business and blah blah, but its not exactly like bonnaroo, the biggest fest in the US by attendance since its beginning, every really struggled to make ends meet.
im not trying to go into that right now, but i think its safe to say the days of catering to the "original core audience" are over at bonnaroo, for better or for worse. if zep is there, tix could easily sell for $400+ a piece Zep/PJ/Metallica/Phil&friends/Kanye/Allmans/JJ/ Raconteurs/Willie/Death Cab and that would only be the first THREE LINES on the poster.

dude...i hope your right about phil and friends....but its confirmed everywhere that Jack is headlining ...even on his official page..booooo jack johnson should not headline
This is taken from the Superfly press release regarding the lineup. I'm assuming that they threw the Lez Zep line in as a joke, and I think that it is pretty funny. But I also think it explains why the news agencies got it wrong/jumped to conclusions.

Either way I'm looking forward to my first Bonnaroo this summer, can't wait.
I'm sorry, but you're telling me that NME spent hours with this press release, misread repeatedly, didn't check up any other sources, and felt they needed to make a separate special release of this info(if it was based off a press release, why would they feel their announcement was special). I'm not buying. If Led Zeppelin is not there, people got some splainin to do. Such as why we haven't seen a retraction.

Metallica?
hahahaha. i wish. The theme of this year must be Bonnaroo...the 90's ... don't be surprised if there is a nirvana cover band
Someone on another thread posted an article that the Chicago Sun-times printed today about all the incorrect led zep Bonnaroo stories last night. Sorry I don't have the link but I just read it about five minutes ago.
I guess there is only one way to find out for sure: More waiting!

there's no way metallica can seriously be there for any other reason. i really can't see superfly scouting them out, it makes more sense if their addition was a favor or something.
