Just in case a lot of you haven't made the connection, the Swell Season is Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, stars of the movie "Once". I am so looking forward to this set, I fell in love with them when I saw the movie in the theaters over the summer.
I just thought I'd enlighten those who perhaps didn't know who the Swell Season were on first glance.
!!!! I was totally going to make the same thread. This band is magical!!!! I highly suggest y'all not only check out the ONCE Soundtrack, but also their debut album The Swell Season, (they go by their names for this cd, and the album name is The Swell Season) now they tour as purely the swell season.
I've missed them a couple times already up here in chicago, and i won't miss them again!! Oh and also check out their cover of Dylan & the Band's song "You Aint Goin Nowhere" off of the I'm Not Here Sountrack...

its "The Swell Season" so I think they may mean the whole group, before Once the recording had glen hansard, marketa irglova, 2 violins, a cello, and a bass. If they have everyone it will be so amazing.

I'm really excited to see them. Somebody mentioned in the "If you like..." board that if you like Damien Rice you'd like them, so I had to go check them out. I've been wanting to see Once anyway (ever since I read a review that said "The extent to which you enjoy Once will be the extent to which you enjoy the music of Damien Rice" (I wish all movie reviews could be so specific!). So when I saw that they were the duo from Once, I got more excited...my friend and I are planning to watch Once sometime soon...he's the one who introduced me to Damien so I'm sure he'll love the Swell Season too...and then we'll get to see them at 'Roo! YAY!
so the Swell Season AND The Frames (Glen Hansard's band) are playing Telluride a week after 'Roo. Since the rest of Glen's band mates are in the states for that, they should come by for a set at 'Roo! That would be a great add.
just wanted to say that i am SO excited to see the swell season!! the once soundtrack was probably my number one listened to album since i went to see Once in august. i love it to death. definitely one of the bands i'm the most excited to see!!

WOW WOW WOW did not make this connection when i first read the lineup....Once was my second favorite movie last year.....the soundtrack is awsome......cant wait

Personally, I think The Frames are a much better group. I'll probably check them out, but that's my problem as well. The Frames are a much more dynamic, interesting band

This is going to be a great show. "Once" was one of the best movies of 2007. The music is what made it great. It would be cool if they play "Once" in the Cinema tent, prior to The Swell Season's set.
the frames are pretty awesome. their show in 2005 was a great show.
One of my favorites of that year - partially because it was so awesome, partially because it was empty, and partially because that was the year with the crazy weather where it was cloudy and cool half the time.
I was front and center and Glen even asked me for a "1, 2, 3, 4" in Pavement Tune, you can hear me on the recording! Great set.
