To start by stating that I'm LZ hopeful and biased. AC/Superfly won't be able to pull off an LZ thing every year. This being an ongoing investment(especially with the purchase of the farm) they don't want to totally piss off their fan base by high priced scalper tickets. So they sell at first tier pricing to the regulars say 50,000 tickets then it's bumped to second tier pricing, almost $250, the other 30,000 tickets. Just my theory along with the cluster %&$# of news releases last night, I'm still hopeful.
^^^I hope that is it because as of right now it looks as if JJ is closing down the roo and I am sorry but he is not the type of act I need to close down my weekend with. I love JJ but just to mellow to go home on. But then again maybe it is a liabililty thing and Superfly does not want a bunch of druken/messed up fans out on the highway in the wee hours of the morning but alas this is highly unlikely.

With a price bump that big, I am still hopefull for Zeppelin also. Jack Johnson is really not big enough to headline imo, and I really hope to god that Kanye is not headlining.
I really really think that Superfly is holding back the good stuff to that regular Roo goers can get their tickets and Led Zeppelin and some other great bands are still to be announced.

I'm not positive, but I'm guessing the price bump could be from the combination of Metallica and Kanye. Neither of those have cheap tickets no matter where they play.

I personally don't see Jack Johnson as headlining material but that might just be me...i agree his stuff is way too mellow and there is no way that he can bring the energy needed to fill that headlining slot. I mena hwile most people may be getting tired of Panic headlining no one can deny that thye fucking brought the heat last year through their 2 and a half hour single set. I personally am hoping ofr osme form of trey and friends to show up as a special welcome back show or something because by that point he will be off of all his probation stuff

I'm gonna argue against this by referencing the Police who had outrageous ticket prices, yet still headlined last year with little to no markup in ticket prices. i still think Zeppelin will be there. i just think NME jumped the gun.

It's a mystery, that's for sure. On one hand you have Capps stating that no big names, including headliners, will be added. On the other hand, no news source has listed Johnson as a headliner, only Metallica and PJ. On one hand, Coachella has Johnson as a headliner. On the other hand, that's a smaller fest (attendance-wise) and Johnson just doesn't seem big enough for Bonnaroo. I'm in the dark here, and I hope they clear it up very soon.
"If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has the power to move you, if the simple things in nature have a message you understand, Rejoice, for your soul is alive."
I see Jack Johnson being the big set on Thursday night (Like Rod and Gab last year), Metallica Fri, PJ Sat, then Sunday night an powerhouse Super Jam featuring featuring three members of a band known as "Led Zeppelin"

I've heard rumors that Pearl Jam was offered MULTIPLE headlining sets. Can anyone confirm or deny this? It would make sense as all three headlining sets would be listed first on the poster-- just that 2 bands would comprise all three sets.
I refuse to believe that they would add another headliner to an already amazing bill. And I don't think they would give 2+ hours to Jack, Kanye, or Plant&Krauss. Yes, Jack is headling Coachella, but they're traditionally given 75-90 minute sets. I don't see MMJ having headliner potential (even though they are amazing and are obviously good at playing long sets). That would leave Lesh and the Allman Brothers, but why would they list them 6th and 8th is they're headlining?

The Conspiracy Theory: I don't fully understand what superfly is doing this year other than from a marketing point of view.
The first 3 on the bill are always the headliners. I've never seen them add a headliner after the initial announcement?
Then again they have nothing this year saying those 3 are the headliners. Are they assuming we know those are the headliners or are they really being sneaky?
Are we all just in denial given the current headliners don't stack up?

I don't think Jack Johnson is. He could be, but it seems a bit odd to have him as a headliner. I really hope Kanye has a different spot than a headliner position, but I don't really go to headliners anyway, so it doesn't concern me for the most part.
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
I posted in another thread that the first 3 listed are not always the headliners. In 2006 Beck was listed as 3rd and there was the same kind of talk as Jack Johnson is getting. In 2004 on the official Bonnaroo site they have Bob Dylan listed as 3rd but Trey was the main headliner. So it is not always the first 3 listed.

Yea I think that Pj might headline 2 nights or maybe close on Sunday. I haven't listened to hardly any of their newer stuff but I hear they have started going more down the jam path, so either two nights or close on sunday with maybe Jack on Saturday if PJ only does one night.
Anybody who thinks that Metallica, Pearl Jam, and Jack Johnson are not the three headliners are simply fooling themselves into thinking something else b/c they don't want to believe that Jack could headline.
The top acts are always the headliners on the initial artist bill. Unless it says "2 shows" ON THE ARTIST LINEUP, like panic did in 02 and 05, don't expect more than 1 show from any band (sans Sonic Stage stuff)
The price jump is normal. It goes up every year. The cost of doing business has gone up every year. Gas prices, think about how much fuel it takes to run the lights in the campgrounds. The truck for cleaning porta potties, gas for food and ice. The cost of running a stage. All the lights and cameras and speakers HAS to eat up a lot of juice. The price to me is no indication of who's playing. Would Zep showing up surprise me? No, I can see AC and Superfly letting the hardcore roo folks get some tix first. They are businessmen but it's not good business to pee on the folks that made you.
