Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
i am a huge fan of inforoo and all of the information it provides but i've noticed a trend that is getting worse every year. for a couple of months leading up to the annoucment of the line-up, we speculate and dream. we dream of pearl jam, phish, led zeppelin and maybe even all the beatles resurrecting while simutaneously getting the band back together. our expectations and day dreams are pretty lofty.
with that said, when the actual line-up comes out, we crash instead of being excited about it. i have seen so many people moaning and groaning about the line up yet i have never witnessed this attitude at the actual festival.
how many of you were dying for mmj, umphreys, pearl jam, willie nelson, etc.? didn't we get all of those? while you don't like metallica or kanye west, can you find a good 8 - 10 hours of music to go watch that weekend?

I slit the sheet. The sheet I slit and on the slitted sheet I sit.
THe lineup is great.. the only bad thing will be when all the supporting bands I want to see play at the same time, while the bands that get their very own slot are worth skipping.

Mad Karma when I can, This is a pretty stellar lineup and we still have 30 or so more bands to creep out. Im buying 2 tickets on the 16th and Im more than excited.
I will agree, unfortunatly I think that putting the clues on radio roo killed the line-up because people got their hopes WAY UP. We started to pull reasons to tie our favorite artist into a clue cause we wanted them so badly and when we didn't get them we got upset. And I was upset I bitched and moaned but now that I've have time to mull it over and check out some artist that I don't know I actually like the line-up plus there is still a crap ton of bands to be added.

You are quite correct about expectations ruining the lineup. However, coming of Bonnaroo's (arguably) best lineup ever last year, this one is still a bit of a let-down.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
how many of you were dying for mmj, umphreys, pearl jam, moe, willie nelson, etc.? didn't we get all of those? while you don't like metallica or kanye west, can you find a good 8 - 10 hours of music to go watch that weekend?
Such an excellent point. I can't see how anyone wouldn't be able to eek out many hours a day of enjoyable music from the lineup. Sure, maybe the headliners aren't your cup of tea, but there are some great bands on the list and you should do yourself a favor and check 'em out before nixing Bonnaroo.
As my first post on inforoo (which has been a great site in helping myself and my friends prep for our first roo), I'd like to absolutely agree with you kid a. When the lineup came out last night I was literally bouncing off the walls. I'm sorry that some people are so let down by some greats not being there (Zeppelin, Gov't Mule, Bob Dylan, REM, etc.), but I was shocked to see so many people whining this afternoon. We have an excellent set of music here and my opinion, just go with the flow and find somebody you like! Metallica is probably at the bottom of my list, but instead of losing sleep because they're playing, I'll just run over to Iron and Wine, Broken Social Scene, Sigur Ros, or any other band that might be playing at the same time.
i agree with you KidA, but I'm still upset. Not about the clues, whatever... 4/days 500 posts later, it doesnt really matter. I think they were trying to get people excited about it, but looking back on it no one was being realistic.
I am still trying to look at this open-mindedly, and I'm not complaining. I COULD find a bunch of bands that I would like to see. In fact there were 4 on my wishlist and about 10 that i would like to check out.
unfortunately there are only a handful of bands that my boyfrend wants to see. And only a handful of bands that our friends want to see. And people are dropping out all around me. Because no one wants to pay $500+ to see "a few bands"...
it's just not their thing anymore. and i can understand it and appreciate it. But where does that leave me? I will not go alone. Bonnaroo for me is about being with your friends... Find new people? I'd rather go to the festivals that my friens wanna go to.
Our minds may change... I don't know. I looked at the lineup last night, pondered it for 4 hours and it looked worse than yesterday. When i woke up this morning i felt better about it, but after looking at it again, i get the same feeling as yesterday. maybe im thinking of my friends too much, but that's how i feel.

My trip:
Excitement from speculation. Disappointment when the big names are missing. Re-excitement when re-reading the list and realizes how great the lineup really is.
Come June, I'll take dozens of great 2's and 3's over one great 1 any day (or four).

I hope everything works out for you, Cupcake, and you're able to come to an acceptable decision. If this year doesn't happen for you, then I hope next year does. But if this year does happen for you and your crew, I hope y'all have the best bonnaroo you've ever had.
And cupcake - last year I knew maybe 3-4 bands before arriving and those I was meh about. But then I got there and was blown away by so many I had barely or never heard about, it was the best weekend ever.

Just so you know, the headliners at Bonnaroo play unopposed. So, on Friday night, Metallica will be the only band playing between 8ish and midnight. I'm not trying to be a downer, but this usual line of reasoning doesn't hold up like it would for Coachella or the first two nights of Lollaplaooza or ACL.

thank you, i appreciate it. im hoping we all come around and get excited to be back on the farm. im gonna get a bunch of new music for everyone to listen to, and find some videos on you tube and do whatever i can to get people to see that metallica isnt the end of the world

I said this on another thread, but really I don't like Tool. My husband loves them, so I know their music quite well and even know lyrics but it's still not my cup of tea.
During Tool's performance last year I went back to camp, hung with some of my pals, rested up for late night and I think we even checked out some of the non-music activites all over Centeroo.
I wasn't psyched to see The Police and saw 1/2 the show. I am not thrilled to see Metallica and may see them, may not. A headliner is such a small part of a 4-day weekend of utter joy!
We do get super excited; it's like kids before Christmas. They hope they are getting a pony, a fancy game console and then end up getting instead 10 gifts that are cool, but not as unrealistic. They are sad because they didn't get the pony... heck even mad at Santa and their parents but they play with the toys they get and realize they got those because they wanted them as well... they just were more realistic. They have a kick-butt year with their Big Well and their GI Joe and Transformers and memories of these toys to last a lifetime.
I was sooo excited to see so many bands I know of marginally but hear good things about. Bands I have NOT seen 1,000 times before. It's like Christmas! ;D
