this is good news, maybe we could be looking at some wallflower tunes as well as dylan songs, and this could be like momentous if Bob gets added, because we have levon helm from The Band...... i mean are you guys thinking what im thinking....
I'm thinking too many people are getting their hopes up about major additions that clearly aren't going to happen
I don't know how much of his dad's material he plays live, but I'm going to assume very little. There's only been one occasion where they played the same show (as separate acts) a decade ago. He's never been the kind of guy to overtly use the family name for fame. If so, he wouldn't have bothered coming up with a band name when he was first getting started. That band is on hiatus, so he's releasing a solo album. I assume that's what we'll be getting.
I saw him perform last year... I can't remember who he toured with. He did not play any of his dad's work; he really strives to be his own person and not famous because of who he's related to.
He is definitely a mellow, chill under a tree type of performance. Perfect for the afternoon. I'll be happy to see him.

i doubt we see jakob playing many of bob's songs. last i heard, he was a wee bit annoyed by never being "jakob dylan" and always being "bob dylan's son"

he's so selfish, he knows that all we really want to hear is bob dylan.... no, but seriously i completely understand where he would be coming from, definitely excited about his show regardless of what he plays.
That Wallflowers CD was my theme music for my last semester of college. I was feeling lonely and lost and wondering what my purpose was and that album... well it made me feel even more lost but it provided a great soundtrack for that time in life

The only Dylan song that I've heard of Dylan covering (if you follow) was "the Weight" which is more of a Band cover than Dylan cover, really.
As almost expected as it is to see the child of a star cover their parent's material (even though it rarely happens), I'd imagine that it would be like being introduced as your brother's brother. While it may be true, you're also yourself and you'd rather people associate you with you that you with your brother.
I'm really excited about Jakob Dylan. I'm expecting him to play most of his solo stuff of his album that is coming out this year and maybe a few notable Wallflowers tunes. There is no way he is going to cover any of his dad's stuff- he wants to make a name for himself. He doesn't want to leech off the family name. He doesn't even allow his dad's name to be mentioned in interviews. That said, the two Jakob Dylan solo songs I have heard are fantastic.
